This wonderful B and B is on an island in the Rhone River. Our hosts were great and filled with good suggestions. If you like Rhone wines, go to Chataneuf du Pape which is just a short distance away. When there, have lunch at the castle and do not miss seeing the wine store and sampling the wines. We had some very good meals in Avignon. We spent a whole day seeing the sights in Avignon but really enjoyed the day trips to adjacent cities as well. There was always something special at breakfast. We spent 3 great days here.

Room Tip: We saw 2 rooms there and both were great.

I loved everything about this place. The owners Francois and Paco were the most gracious hosts, and our room (Vilar) was large with tasteful furnishings, a delightful view, and a bathroom complete with chandeliers. The breakfast in the dining room was served on fine china with a white tablecloth. The attention to detail was extraordinary from the fresh rose and complimentary water upon arrival to the decorative candies casually placed on the table at breakfast each morning. If you are visiting Avignon I don't think you could find a better place to stay.

We just got back From France and the stay at Domaine deRhodes was exceptional, the rooms were great, the breakfast every morning was wonderful. The advise of what to do from Francoise and Paco was great. I would highly recommend this place. Had a great time, we will be back.

Travelling with another couple, my wife and I enjoyed three lovely nights with Francoise and Paco at Domaine de Rhodes. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Francoise and Paco are gracious and helpful hosts. Our rooms were large, clean and well appointed. Each had a large bathroom with double sinks, separate bath, large shower and a towel warmer, which came in handy for drying clothes that we washed each night. Either Francoise or Paco or both hosted each breakfast in the 16th century main dining area. Additions were made in the 18th century. Francoise and Paco completely updated the baths, which are nicer than those found in all but the most expensive hotels in France. We visited Chataneuf-du-Pape, Avignon and, at Paco's suggestion, Sur-de-Isle Sourgues and Gordes. His suggestions were spot on! For someone visiting Avignon with a car, we cannot imagine a better place to stay. It is far more peaceful and serene than Avignon, with easy access to the old city. We would happily return and hope to do so soon.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a 16 day trip through the south of France. Our room (Matisse) was spacious and clean. The house is beautiful and the owners were fantastic. Location was perfect for us, away from the bustle of Avignon but an easy 5 minute drive to the city center. A great value. We would definitely stay here again. Oh, and if you do stay there say hello to the puppies (Gypsy and Uska (sp?)) for us.

We stayed as a party of 5 for 5 nights in October 2011. What a find, everything the other reviewers say is so true. Francois and Paco were 2 of the nicest people we met on our trips and their home is so beautiful. Don't be put off by the fact you aren't in the middle of town as this location is perfect - and no parking problems!! It really is only a short drive to anywhere. There is a restaurant on the island you should visit at night too for the view of the Avignon bridge (of the nursery rhyme) at night time - stunning :) Thanks for an amazing stay guys!

We stayed here at the end of last April and into May. Just a really special experience. We stayed like 5 or 6 nights and it flew by. The grounds in April were absolutely beautiful the trees were flowering and there . The location is best suited to those who have or are renting cars because it is on an island in the middle of the Rhone that is mostly farm land and country roads. That said, it's really only 5 or ten minutes from Avignon center and parking is fairly undramatic. Absolutely beautiful area and a great point from which to explore the surrounding areas. Françoise and Paco are the best! We had so much fun sitting with them and the other guests at breakfast talking about our day and what are plans were. Breakfasts are pretty standard breads, coffee, yogurt, cereal, and these awesome jams that you can actually buy from Françoise. We stayed in the Delacroix room and it was really cute - my wife flipped when she saw it. Just really detailed with classic furniture and decorations in the rooms. I think they've renovated since we've been there and I imagine all the rooms are as tastefully decorated. They have a pool and some detached apartments also - I think kids would have a great time there because of the space and pool, but some of the furniture and stuff in the room is a little delicate so I'd be careful. Just a great time and we can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: We really liked the Delacroix room. There are some pictures but they're a little dark.
