We stayed at this hotel in August 2015. At check in, we were pleasantly surprised with an upgrade. The junior suite was marvelous. The bed and pillows so soft, a huge bathroom and walk in closet. The location is also incredible. A medieval town on top of a hill, walking the tiny streets and staring at the castle next door makes feel you are in a fairy tale. The town's main plaza is just steps away and it is a wonderful spot for dinner and interacting with locals and other tourists. Pierre, the hotels driver will pick you up from the station if you arrive by train, he will also drive you back when leaving. There is also a free shuttle from Cagnes sur mer to the castle.

As you expect a cosy, romantic, French countryside hotel to be. Individually decorated rooms, some more spacious than others but all with their own character.
Breakfast is served with a view, at the terrace.
Recommended for a romantic weekend!

We went for a few days for our honeymoon and what a lovely place. The rooms were great and the bed very comfortable. The staff were really helpful and nothing was too much for them when it came to looking after their guests. Dinner on the balcony on a warm evening was lovely and we enjoyed the ambience a lot. Thank you Le Cagnard for a lovely stay

Beautiful building. Reception services are slow, probably because too few staff. Also female reception staff lack charm or warmth unlike other hotels we visited during this trip across Provence. Too few staff at dinner & so waited & waited until I reached out for the bread basket myself some 15 minutes after sitting down. Staff in their workday clothes & not as fresh as they could have been. Food OK but no great shakes. breakfast was pre-packaged & very boring. So fruit salads already doled into portions, coffee & hot milk in hot flasks & not made fresh. They were unable to provide any breakfast before 8am which we needed as going to a flight. Due to very narrow old town roads, cars are left in a carpark with someone collecting you. The person we had was very kind as he went back down to the carpark, my having lost my mobile. But given the 'leading hotels' category, I would have expected a clean car & one with back seat belts. In the bathroom complimentary toiletries containers were very crumpled as if emptied refilled. Investment is required in the dining room, customer service training, staff numbers.

My review really should be between 3 and 4 on this hotel. The positives: Unique property high in a hill town village, beautiful rooms and linens, beds fit for king and lovely furnishings throughout. The negatives: less than professional and friendly service considering the price and the luxury status. Breakfast service was really poor and inexperienced (lukewarm tea and dirty patio). Front desk service ranged from warm and friendly to cold and irritated depending on who was at the desk. I guess I have a hard time when a very young woman acts haughty and put out when I make the simple request of being given my room key late at night. If the service was up to par with the facility this would have been a much different review. Please note, it is very inconvenient to park at the hotel and super expensive to park in the lot closest to the village. They also would not credit the cost of breakfast even thought we left at 4:30am the morning of our flight. Honestly I've had places of this caliber pack me breakfast when I have had an early departure. This one could have cared less. I would choose somewhere else if I had to do it over.

Room Tip: Our room had no view even though it was deemed a Superior
