I stayed here for business one night.
Is this a 5 star hotel? Really?
Where are the stars?
Pretty poor quality of the room, no sound proofing, no temperature control.
Service? No turn down, no welcome amenities as requested by the fidelity program I am member of.
Overall, many improvement opportunities.

This hotel redeems itself from the fact that it is not a five star hotel by providing great service. But then again one could stay at a B&B or a 3 star and receive good service so alas it does not justify the price.
The rooms are generous in size but old and worn. They are however clean. It is a large hotel so most of the rooms do not have a view of the ocean and unfortunately the majority look over the railway line at the back of the hotel.
The restaurant is OK, the gym is small but has a kinesics machine and various other techno gym equipment.
Ultimately would I stay again, probably not because one expects value for money. Be warned The Carlton is in a worse state of repair so avoid this one even more so.

I stayed here for a few days and it was the prefect base to see Cannes and Monaco. The Hotel as it;s own private beach and it is centrally located for the best that Cannes has to offer.

During our stay we had the pleasure of meeting Sean Connery and I'm sure many other celebs stay here, as it is the perfect base for a weekend away.

Drinks are expensive, but service was good and overall I would stay here again.

The Hotel Martinez in Cannes is in my opinion is one of the best hotels, which may be unfortunately overshadowed as the Carlton as I understand undergoes a massive refurb.

I love this hotel, it's at the end of the La Croisette which is personal, and not so crowded. I'm one of the few that adore Cannes in the Winter. It's amazing. The angry water of the south of France.

To be honest I was saying on room only rates. The hotel is very expensive and I wasn't going to have my company dip out for breakfast as well.

I did have one gripe. While I was there, they were renovating floors, so I literally had to walk for what seemed forever, enter almost a back of house elevator, go up and walk again. It was a litl off putting.

The style is classic and the bathroom was my favourite. You feel very 'celebrity'.

all in all, classic chic cannes.

It's very rare that I provide a hotel with a 5 Star rating, especially when the hotel is beyond expensive and borders on exorbitant with a dash of extravagance!

From the time our taxis dropped us off, to the concierge desk, to the personalized tours of the room, I felt like a celebrity all the way. Gitte and her team do remarkably well of being always at your beck and call without being 'in your face' - A talent very few hotels do rather well.

For starters, we happened to stay just when the Martinez was undergoing renovation so we got the first floor rooms. Once the new rooms were ready, all it took was a phone call and all my belongings (quite a few of them) were picked up and packed rather nicely moving them to my Martinez's newly refurbished room.

The new rooms ooze with sophistication, colour, and finish whilst retaining a substantial gloss of vanity but then again being in Cannes, I think the place calls for it. The new rooms are a lot airier, brighter, have gorgeous wallpaper, even the toilets are de rigueur. It's hard to fault perfection and comfort and I think Martinez has the formula pat down.

I happened to be staying at a rather busy time (MIPIM) but couldn't hear the streets, partying or any such ruckus.

The lobby is faultless though small, the food - Michelin star and the ambiance truly old world. What sealed the deal for me was room service. Not only do they understand what you want, it seems their service is timed. Not once in my travels have I had room service bring up an Ice bucket within 5 minutes but Martinez ensured they did it every single time even when it wasn't accompanied with a food order i.e gratis.

Now that's the kind of Service you demand and Willingly pay for! Well Done!

Room Tip: Stay on the higher front facing rooms especially above the pool. The view is unmatched.

We Dropped into the Martinez for a cocktail as we were staying in an apartment nearby. We ordered 2 champagne cocktails at 23 euro each. We have no problem paying this but when you consider the cheaper cocktails in a far more superior bar in the carlton, you feel robbed.

I cannot speak about the the rooms or the rest of the hotel but the bar area had no atmosphere, and it certainly did not have any wow factor. The furniure was similar to a 3 star hotel here in Ireland and all the picture frames were hanging crooked.
Lastly, the finger food provided while drinking alcahol was cold raw vegtables, brocolli, carrots, and cauliflower, dont get me wrong, I love my veg, just not with champagne!!!!!
