“A Wonderful and Delicious Surprise”
Reviewed 26 October 2011

We ate at this restaurant on our first night in Eze. Although we were a little tired from the long flight we decided to tough it out and drive up the hill to the restaurant.

We are so glad we did. We had a great meal accompanied by great wines. Earlier in the evening we had drinks at sunset at Chateau Eza for their amazing view and met two businessmen who were also parrtaking of the breathtaking view. they had wanted to eat at Chatea Eza but could not as it was a warm day, they had shorts on, and Chateau Eza had a dress code of no shorts. As we were talking they asked me if I knew of any restaurants; i told them about this restaurant that I had read about and they called to see if the restaurant would allow them to dine in shorts. The restaurant is mid way up the hill in a residential area. Diners were mostly local and like us there were other diners visiting the area. Attired ranged from casual (i.e. our two new friends were in shorts to men in sport coats and ties. Irrespective of attire everyone seemed to feel equally at home. Also to our surprise, language was not a problem as our party did not speak French--all of the wait staff spoke English.

On short noitice the restaurant made our reservation of two to four and we were on our way up to dine (please note that since it is not in the main walled city part of Eze you will need some form of transportation i.e. a car to drive up, take the bus or a taxi).

We each started with gazpacho which we all agreed was one of the best ever and not like any other gazpacho you may have had followed with mixed salads. We each then had a different meal i.e. lamb, beef with pepper sauce, scallops (seafood of the day), and another beef dish. All were fabulous, well seasoned with good sized portions, and not over priced. We also started with a bottle of Bordol (40 Euro) and followed it with a regional bottle of Cabernet Franc which were both highly recommended by the proprietor. We all felt that our wines complimented our meals and were both delicious and medium bodied. Although we were strangers, we shared two desserts--a cheese platter and a creme brulee. Both deserts were equally satisfying and a nice way to finish our meal.

When it came time to pay, they split our bill for what we each had and we were all amazed at how reasonable the bills were for what we had. The bill for my husband and I was 105 Euros.

We most enjoyed our meal and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visint Eze.

We did see a terrace which I am sure would provide for a great summertime night dining experience. We ate inside as it was mid October and a little on the chilly side at night.

“Lovely atmosphere, views and great food”
Reviewed 17 August 2011

My son and I enjoyed two simple but excellent meals at this restaurant this week. Beautiful views, friendly staff, a chef who cares about matching his creations with a good wine. Well recommended, book aead to get a front row table on the terrace.

“Excellent spot over Eze - perfect terrace, sublime view and excellent food”
Reviewed 13 August 2011

One of the few spots along the Grand Corniche that is not in a village center. It also offers a great view over Eze and the sea. THe food is classic old world provencal with modern twists.
Much of the food is cooked in an old stone oven and is very very good. Staff and owners could not be more pleasant - the place has a nice family atmosphere to boot!!
We look forward to our next visit.
