This pub is a refurbishment of a classic very old Inn which previously held coveted and rare stars in the Good Pub Guide, putting it at the very top of pubs throughout the UK. We used to visit when we were kids in the 70's and 80's and it was a real treat. So this visit, the first since refurbishment by Brunning and Price was eagerly awaited. It's very different. Now sympathetically modernised and extended, this is still a very classy place, and is now evidently as popular as it used to be. Gone is the dark cosy atmosphere and wood panelling. Exchanged for light walls, comfortable furniture and fireplaces. Menu is very accessible for all, and food was really good. Service was friendly and helpful. Outside, views of the stunning Vale of Clwyd are spectacular from the preserved terraces and a newly built tower, all of which have ample tables. This is well recommended.

So disappointing my husband and I both had steak burger flavourless. Oven chips rubbish. This is our 3rd visit and food very dissatisfactory. Won't be visiting again.

We were keen to try the Dinorben Arms after hearing lots of good reports and booked a table in advance. The bar and restaurant areas were buzzing a mix of couples and larger parties. We were shown you our table promptly and our waiter introduced himself and took our orders efficiently. We all enjoyed our main courses which were substantial in size. Good wine selection. Cheese board selection great. Will return.

Recently refurbished country pub in a superb setting adjoining the village Church. Plenty of space inside, with outside split level terraces (one having an open covered area in the unlikely event of rain!) with extensive views over the valley. Menu comprehensive but on the pricey side, with excellent sweet portions, though more expensive than in most pubs. Meals came quickly and did not disappoint. Waiting staff friendly and efficient, though one or two seemed to be in the training stage (nothing wrong in that - we all have to learn). Access to the split level car parking areas is eye-wateringly steep; I would think ropes and crampons would be a good idea in the winter and I wouldn't like to try driving down and out if the road surface was at all icy. Well worth a visit but make sure you're not short of cash!!
