“Great location and full of home comforts”

The friendly owners are born and bred from the area and have a farm a short walking distance from the cottage - we were priveleged to have an introduction to Alwen's day old velvet grey calf. Despite the 1950's utilitarian pebble dash front appearance this property is actually in a tiny hamlet in a rural location and the interior has a cosy cottage feel with the practicality of high ceilings for taller visitors and an air of spacious generousity. They have worked hard to make it a country living inspired (but uncluttered) home from home with a small but blooming lovely garden with slate patio backing on to fields - we were able to eat out there almost every night and enjoy the peace. Despite feeling like a rural idyll, it is well connected for transport links across North Wales as well as within Denbighshire or into Cheshire being easily reached from the A55 which links you to Snowdonia, Conwy Valley etc at speed or take one of the many scenic route - the horseshoe pass if you are heading down toward Ruthin or Llangollen is stunning. Talking to the owners you realise they really love the area and they hope their visitors will too. Their welcome was warm and pratical with milk tea, jam and bread on arrival and tabs for the dishwasher too! A huge bouquet of garden flowers made the kitchen feel especially inviting. We were out every day on excursions across North Wales and in Snowdonia, but there is also plenty to do more locally as well if you prefer not to drive too far. We hope to return before too long. If you are coming with a young child you may want to bring a folding step to help them reach the tall sink and possibly plastic crockery and smaller size cutlery as the cutlery and china provided is generously proportioned - much like the house. The beds too were extremely comfortable!

Liked best: Practical hospitality from the hosts - a great arrival and lovely garden that backs on to fields. Accessible for a wide variety of day trips.
Liked least: An administrative error with the booking - teething troubles for a new property - but the owners more than made up for it.
