It is a restaurant facing a small square and its tables are all in open air. We happened to eat here just by chance in a day all its tables were full of customers. You could have expected some delays but three waiters made the service quick and our experience positive. After a cocktail we chose the frequently served cuisse de canard and magret de canard which arrived well cooked and with good potatoes on a side.

Lovely lunch in the square. They were open on Sunday after mass so around 1130. It’s nice to enjoy the setting as more people came through. Food was delicious and the portions big. Probably a bit big for my three courses, but I wanted to try more things.

We decided to eat here, because it was recommended by the hotel and was closeby. The food was normal, service normal, location very convenient, prices about average. For the same price, you could also try some place with better local dishes, but we chose this place to be able to sit outside.

Try the prix fixe lunch. For 13 euros each, one had an entree+plat, and one a plat+dessert. The Assiette Charcuterie was a full size plate of sliced sausages and hams and other smoked meats garnished with cornichons. His bavette de boeuf was a skirt steak and really good fries along with a powerful poivre (pepper) sauce. My cabillaut was a flakey and tender white fish served with assorted vegetables. The vegetables were a bit disappointing - boiled with no additional seasoning. However, there was a savory sauce on the side for dipping. The chocolate mousse really was enough to share - a good size serving and very rich, with occasional bits of a very good chocolate that melted in my mouth. Yum!

The servers were friendly and attentive, and the table just outside the door was a great place for a breeze and people watching.

The food was really on the lower limit of acceptable. I don't know if the ownership just changed or what because other reviews are mostly positive. Maybe the main chef had the day off, I don't know, but the food was borderline bad. The only thing making up for that is the server was very friendly and the price was a great value, or it would have been a great value anyway if the quality had been better. I can't recommend Les Artistes unless you really are on a tight budget and just want a warm meal and aren't picky.
