What a find this was.........

Easily accessible from the rail station & only a short walk from the city centre.

Rooms are not the largest, but are thoughtfully designed with excellent storage and very adaptable lighting.
Beds are very comfortable & there are external shutters to give a 'blackout' effect.
Showers are easy to operate with a more than adequate stream & steady temperatures.

But what really sets this place apart is the staff -- from management down there is a 'can-do' attitude which makes a stay here absolutely stress-free.
A special shout-out to the gentleman manning the breakfast room during our stay -- polite, cheerful & nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent modern hotel in a quiet back street about 10 minutes walk from the old town. The staff on reception were very helpful and the room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was also good. A couple of warnings: if you use the parking garage, the passageway to the basement is very narrow and steep. And the town of Freiburg gets very quiet after 9pm in the evening. The hotel has its own small (and reasonably priced) wine bar

The Alex Hotel is a great place to stay if you want to be close to the main train station. The rooms are comfortable and the service at the front desk was extremely helpful and appreciated. Maybe a 10 minute walk to the train station the next morning. if we stop again in Freiburg, we will definitely stay at the Alex.
