The hotel is ok for a quick stopover. Parking costs and breakfast costs almost doubled our original booking costs so beware. The rooms and lobby seem a little dated.Staff were friendly and breakfast was a little on the disappointing side which i am not used to in Germany .
This was my fourth visit to the Colombi and it was in all respects every bit as good as on all the others. It is a beautifully designed hotel, using the highest quality materials and the attention to quality is the hallmark of how it is run. The room was outstanding, so was the breakfast. The Colombi's piano bar is, in my view, the most tastefully designed and best stocked bar of any hotel I know.
Great hotel in the heart of the city. Just a short walk from the station and close to all amenities. Good food selection in either restaurant or bistro. The hotel is in 2 seperate parts so some rooms are accessed by using 2 lifts. Friendly helpful staff.
Freiburg is not only on the frontier with Switzerland and France, it is also on the frontline of the culture war in Germany. Completely run down, a dysfunctional street system, with graffiti, junkies, beggers, unkempt people, and remote controlled zombies on stoneage vehicles everywhere. The average survival time for an old-school person with jacket, hanky, proper shoes and cigar is probably less than 5 minutes in the pedestrian areas or on the bicycle lanes ;-)
Colombi Hotel provides a safe space for civilized persons, who want to watch the apocalypse from the street level terrace over lunch, or retreat for a cigar to the humidor room. Food was good. Service very friendly. Public spaces rather deserted. The hardware is in need of a renovation, but who would want to invest in such a downward spiral?
Everything you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Service was impeccable from start to finish, a great Michelin star restaurant in the location, all the little touches down very well. The price of the room and stay was great value. The restaurant good value, and the location fantastic. If visiting the region again will definitely be back.
