Landed to this restaurant by accident, actually recommended by the owners of Rote Hirsch, due to booking there gone wrong on a busy Saturday night; brilliant discovery indeed!
Super friendly personnel, very accommodative despite being fully booked;
Excellent local kitchen, very well stocked wine cellar with mostly local specialties, impeccable service and actually also, great value or your money.
This is a place where you do not need to hold back on anything; the portions are ample, delicious and nicely plated, but with due respect to local tradition, wines are splendid and the digestives our of this world, not to speak about the special recommendations of the host, stuff that you would never find on your own. The place is worth a detour!
We will there soon again!!

While staying at a hotel nearby we were on search of: first a bar to watch soccer - alas, we found that while the bars had great TVs for viewing, smoking is allowed inside the bars and we just couldn't handle that. So we wandered our area in search of dinner and were just about to give up and go to Subway when we stumbled upon this amazing find. It was full when we got there but Sebastian was kind enough to allow us to wait for a table while having a drink. The place was packed with a big birthday celebration which added to a fun ambience. The wine and beer selections were just right,
Once seated we were treated to a most amazing meal. First the bread with their delicious homemade spread! We could have happily had a big bowlful and called it good. But dinner for both of us was so good. The ingredients are fresh and thoughtfully prepared. I had the beef, spaetzel and the ravioli (wow, is that good!!) and husband had the weinershnitzel. (excuse the spelling) We ended with the chocolate torte which was so yummy especially with the chosen berries. Sebastian was so kind and welcoming and fun to chat with. I just want to say thank you Sebastion for taking a night that we thought was a near disaster and making it amazing! we will always remember and be Ever so grateful -- from, Sweet Potato

Went to the restaurant alone and the staff was very friendly and helpful. In addition to the tastefull beef with a great homemade butter. They served a starter of bread and some cream? which tasted very good! The beef had a little too much pimientos for my taste, but can definately recommend this restaurant!

Weinstein’s Am Stadtgraben is an “off-the-beaten-path” smallish restaurant that I would have never considered had it not been for the recommendation of a colleague from Stuttgart. It’s one of the few restaurants I’ve visited recently where every item on the menu looked appetizing, including the menu dégustation. I finally opted for the fennel salad with almonds orange and smoked salmon(yes, fairly common these days, I know), and the grilled monkfish, along with an order of yoghurt sesame bread. Since my colleague likes German and Austrian wines and recommended this restaurant for its selection, and as I was dining alone, I asked the waiter to pair the wines with the two courses. The first was a Roter Traminer, which is actually a white varietal from the northern part of Austria. As it comes from the Gerwurztraminer family, it’s dry and quite acidic, but definitely less sweet than the better know varietal - perfect accompaniment to the citric nature of the fennel salad. For the second, my waiter suggested a Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) from a local Stuttgart-area winery, and while not as complex as the Roter Traminer, held its own with the grilled monk fish. While neither wine will make a top 50 list, it was wonderful to be exposed to wines I would not have experienced otherwise.

The main course was rich in flavor, even if the fish was slightly over-cooked (actually monk fish is tough to “tame”). However, the grilled melons were fantastic, and played very well with the saltiness of the goat cheese.

Finished off with fresh berries and very sorbet. Great meal in a very cozy and welcoming environment.
