“How people lived and worked in the past”

Freilchtmuseum Glentleiten
Reviewed 19 August 2014 via mobile

A fantastic day for the whole family.
If you are thinking how the people worked and lived in the past, the answer is life in this village.
Many homes with its all facilities and furniture.
All the old workshops are there.
My kids learned a lot about the power of water and wind.
Baby strollers are not possible because of the unpaved routs.
No English description there, all in German.

It was interesting to see a village frozen in time. They had demonstrations throughout the day of various skills. There are paths but they were rutted after heavy rain so I would be careful about taking a stroller to some portions of the trail.

The correct spelling of the name is 'Freilichtmuseum Glentleiten' this is important when your entering it into the GPS unit.

The Glentleiten Open Air Museum is was very interesting. Seeing how people of different classes lived everyday life.

The tools, buildings, and furniture were very interesting.
Many original buildings have been moved from their original location to the meuseum grounds. The museum has pictures and location maps of the original condition and location of the building.

The paths are good for walking but are not designed for trolley and wheel chair.

We enjoyed the time we spent in the museum and only wish the had English signs and information boards. We had to rely heavily on the dictionary for translation.

the open air museum was very interesting place to visit. Especially recommended for families with children.
Recommended route is supposed to take 2.5 hours but if you want to visit all houses then more is required (probably 4 hours).
They provide maps but unfortunately the numbers mentioned in them do not match the numbers on the houses so it's a bit confusing.

If you have a guest card, you can have a discount in entrance (6.5 Euro instead of 7 Euro for adult)
