The Atlas Sporthotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is relatively well maintained; appears to have been built in the late 1980's, but there appears to have been some renovations made to finishes in the public spaces and the rooms have been given a pretty modern touch.

Worst part of the hotel: the bathroom - it has a TINY shower. I'm not kidding when I say the way into the shower was less than 18" wide (not even two toothbrushes in width). And trying to turn around in the shower means you WILL hit the water valve and either burn yourself or chill off quite a bit. I was tempted to shower downstairs in the sauna room.

I am also not at all happy that from the outside of the room, you are able to tell if someone is inside (if they are using electricity) - when you put your key into a lock inside the room to turn the electricity on, there is a green/red light outside the door. No one needs to know if I'm in the room or not.

Breakfast was not included with the room rate, but could be purchased for 9,99€. The breakfast was about normal, but I was surprised to see warm Wiener Würstchen available (not really normal for German hotel breakfasts) - we went around the corner to a café next to the Netto market in Partenkirchen and saved 10€/day.

The Sporthotel can exist as it has a very nice staff
However, rooms are freezing, beds are hard, old building very badly renovated..

Ok, it's very cheap so we can't say much but still..... we won't come back here

Thanks again to the kindness of the staff

Nice, clean, lots of space in the room. Hot shower with good pressure. Semi helpful staff, could have been better. Breakfast was great a good selection. Location semi close to town. Minimal atmosphere, and not a good place to stay if you are wanting to meet other like minded travellers.

We had a one night stay over at The Atlas sport hotel as we were sightseeing in the area.
At a cost of R2000 for the night for 2 rooms 3 people we found the facilities extremely poor!!
Uncomfortable beds, 1 pillow, very musty smelling rooms and no towels which you have to request.

When we arrived there was no available parking. Had to drive around a few times. Upon registering we discovered our room key was an actual huge brass key on a huge key ring. Our room was at the end of a long maze of connecting halls and empty lounge rooms. Only way out in case of fire. Once in room we discovered that to turn on lights you had to insert room key into receptacle on wall. Room was fair sized but had dead bugs on ceiling and in corners. Our room had a balcony that connected to the room next door. We did not feel very secure. Towels were threadbare. On a positive note the staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good as well.
