Spent 4 nights at this hotel during Nürnberg trade show week, i.e. paying room rates up to €225/night as opposed to the normal €69/night.
Was given a top floor room with a broken shower (producing only a slight trickle of water) that they were neither able to fix for the entirety of my stay, nor could they offer another room due to hotel being full.
This particular week, temperatures in Nürnberg varied between 28 and 30C. Rooms in this hotel have no air conditioning or at least mine didn't. While the lack of air conditioning did meet with expectations, a working shower would have been nice.
On top of that, WiFi was down in the entire hotel for 2 of the 4 days.
The room safe was faulty, both in my room and in the room of my colleague.
The hotel bar was closed by the time we got in arriving (well before midnight) and the mini bar in the room was permanently locked for the entirety of the stay. This problem was of no concern to hotel staff.
Charging hotel bar products to the room worked sometimes, and sometimes not due to problems with "the system".
In fairness, unlike other reviewers, I cannot fault room cleanliness. The room was impeccably cleaned.
Upon checkout, I asked were they really going to charge the full rate given the circumstances. They said they'd see what they could do but "the system" was down so they would have to email me the bill later.
2 days later, the bill arrived in the post with no contact name and with the originally quoted room fees. One single breakfast fee had been waived.
I do not enjoy leaving bad reviews. Customer satisfaction could have been easily achieved and this bad review easily avoided by charging appropriately for the product they sold but this hotel consciously chose not to do so. Demand or no demand, I expect Fawlty Towers prices for Fawlty Towers standard. Not 200€+ per night.
I cannot with the best will in the world empathize with the inexplicable lack of customer care I experienced at this hotel.
I will do my best to avoid this hotel going forward.
