I've been to Erlangen on business and since Hotels were mostly booked out for some reason, our business partner booked me in the Hotel Am Birkenweg.
The room was average, furniture maybe a bit outdated but very clean with a desk and chair actually permitting work. Hotel internet (you need a voucher which is free at reception) was however etremely slow not permitting VPN initialization. There is, however, also a German Telekom HotSpot which I haven't tried, used internet access by tethered mobile.
Breakfast was very good and, important for me, the Hotel has smoking rooms. Big Plus.
Bathroom was ok although shower only. There are sufficient (and free) parking lots in the yard, another big plus.TV was pretty outdated and of the CRT type-doesn't disturb me since I do not watch TV but might be important for others. Room has a minifridge but regrettably no additional pillows or water cooker. Staff was very attentive and friendly, rooms were meticulously clean.
