This popular Munich city centre institution serves just a few types of traditional pastries, one of which, the 'Schmalznudel', (a crisp oil fried doughnut of sorts), gives this great cafe its local nickname. I stopped here for breakfast one morning during a few days in Munich to sample the infamous 'Schmalznudel'... It totally lived up to expectations. Crisp, warm, dough with a delicious taste that can be eaten plain or with lashings of sugar. Best enjoyed with a Coffee Latte in my opinion whilst sat at one of the cafe's outside tables while you soak up the sun and the vibe of the city. A Coffee latte and 'Schmalznudel' will cost you around 6 Euros, so a cheap breakfast. Highly recommended and kids would just love it here!
