We came to Munich with 3 of our 4 grown children. We wanted to experience Oktoberfest and learn about Munich.

We booked a private tour Curt after lots of research.

We have had many private tours across cities and Curt is right up there with the best!

He was awesome and customized the tour to what we wanted offering multiple options and always focused on ensuring we were seeing and hearing about what was interesting to us.

Thank you Curt for taking me and my 4 girlfriends around Munich today. We learned a lot about the history of Munich. Our friend that has visited Munich before saw sights she had never seen before.
You recommendation for beer gardens and restaurants were very helpful.

My husband and I had the pleasure of having Curt give us a tour of Munich. What makes Curt so unique is that he tailors your tour based on what you want to learn versus a canned speech. He takes the time to research Munich and his knowledge of the city shows. Also, he has a great sense of humor and made it so much fun! We highly recommend Curt!

Our guide, Curt Milburn was a great source of the local history and development of Munich. We enjoyed the highlights of the old city and he would keep our group of 22 connected despite crowded streets. Thoroughly enjoyable tour!

We arranged a walking tour for our family of 5 with Curt during early August. We heard about him from another tour guide who we had originally contacted but was booked up the day that we wanted to take a tour. The fact that another tour group recommended Curt was impressive and gave us confidence that he was a good tour guide. He met us in the Marianplatz right outside the subway exit. As he began his tour, he asked us questions about our interests so that he could tailor the tour to our likes. We chose to learn a little bit about the history of the old town area, the rise of the Nazi party and Hitler, and finally a quick visit to the Viktualienmarkt. Curt was very friendly and quite knowledgeable. As an expatriated American, English was his first language so there was no language barrier to deal with (we are also from America).

Curt had very extensive and deep knowledge of the Munich old city area as well as the history of Munich and Germany.

The cost of the tour was very reasonable, especially considering that it was essentially a private tour with our family alone. We walked all over central Munich from Marianplatz, down to the Residence and Odeonplatz, the Haufbrauhaus, finally ending up at Viktualienmarkt. Along the way, Curt would take us down side alleys and back streets, telling us stories of events or locations along the way.

We took several other tours during our Germany trip, and all were good, but none were as engaging, personal, and entertaining as Big Hat Tours. Curt conducts tours of other areas in Germany too. When we return in the future, we definitely plan to book another tour with him. We might even take another old city Munich tour and ask him to take us in a different direction than we took on our recent visit.

(On a final note, TripAdvisor, in its apparent infinite wisdom, forces reviewers to chose a visit type (couples, family with children, family with teens, friends, business, or solo), we visited with family but our children are all adults. There is no option for this but submitting a review requires choosing one category, so we chose 'Friends' since this is the most appropriate.)
