Nice quiet hotel in the beautiful historic centre of Augsburg. Booked by my company (I usually stay at the smaller Augsburger Hof), I was unsure what to expect.

Firstly the friendliness on arrival was second to none. Both hotels have this fine art of customer service well and truly sorted! It was pleasant surprise to be welcomed in such a way - particularly after a few nights in a faceless brand hotel the week previous.

A strong and bold building with a lot of history.

Room was super large - an apartment almost. A bit too big in fact for me but I could see it working for a tourist/family. Nice touch with the mini-bar offering basic beers/soft drink

Some minor quibbles....

1. No bar or restaurant - just a porter serving tea/coffee and light drinks would have been nice. Snacks could be available in a vending machine or from reception? Just if you arrive late into a city and the restaurants are not open (e.g. Sundays) or its not ideal to go out.. I managed okay but would have liked to have had a beer in the great surroundings of the original hotel.

2. Room information predominantly in German - would be useful to have the guest info in English as well

Spent 5 nights here recently on business and found it to be very clean, warm, friendly staff, good buffet brekafast ( Great Coffee..well done ! ), centrally located next to the Cathedral. Some confusion when checking out as I had booked with the hotel website ( rahter than a third party webiste ) to avoid them paying commission. The lady became quite irrate as I assumed the amount had been deducted from my cc but she was demanding payment ! A young gentyleman soon arrived to sort out any confusion. So maybe a little bit of " modernisation " of the lady I dealt with might not go astray. Overal very happy with this hotel.

Room Tip: Request one with a balcony....particularly if you are a smoker

Stayed here on a family visit in January, so not peak tourist season. The hotel was not full and we may have been allocated better than average rooms, but we thought we had excellent value - €92 for a room for our two teenagers including breakfast, use of the pool and sauna, beer/soft drinks from the minibar. We had a "comfort" room, which was larger but same facilities. Both rooms had small balconies with great views over the oldest part of town. It's no drawback that the hotel doesn't have a restaurant as you are in reach of some good places - try the Rathauskeller for a start. Breakfast was good, (teenagers would have liked bacon and sausage but liked the waffles and fresh o-juice) and the pool was nice - although you have to ask for the sauna to be put on in advance as it takes a while to warm up. Only slight negative comment, which seems to be the same for all German hotels - larger fluffier bath towels would be nice, as would extra pillows. Staff were friendly and efficient, able to recommend restaurants, tell us the way to places etc. There are some rooms that are reachable only with steps, so if you have heavy luggage or can't cope with steps, then ask specifically for a room reachable on a level from the lift.

Room Tip: Higher up rooms have amazing views - but ask for one reachable on a level from the lifts if you have...

I stayed at the Dom hotel while visiting Augsburg and its Christmas market. The hotel is located in a quiet corner close to the beautiful cathedral and about 6 minutes walk from the Rathaus and the Christmas market. The receptionist was very helpful and kind. The hotel has got a swimming pool although we didn't use it so I cannot comment on that. Parking and wi-fi internet are free. The room was large and clean and the breakfast was fine.
I would certainly recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Room Tip: For a quiet room ask for a room located on an upper floor and facing the back garden.

I have stayed the Dom Hotel foe two nights, as part of a small group. The location is perfect to move around the city, with free parking facilities. Also, breakfast was really nice and the rooms extremelly clean. However, the only "but" I found was the serviced provided from the staff. Although most of them were very efficient, they were very serious, not friendly. Specially the older lady at the reception was a bit rude and even a bit intimidating. I work in a hotel myself and I believe that the most valuable asset is customer care, more important even than confort or location. The rest of the staff members were very helpfull, although they should smile a little more.
Apart from that, I do recommend the hotel as it is convenient, clean and has a lot of facilities.

I chose this hotel because of it's great reviews. It's a nice hotel in a quiet area near the Dom, but still only a short walk from Rathaus platz and the stadt mitte. There a few steps which is bad for people with heavy bags, steps up into the hotel and steps up to rooms even though there is a lift you may still need to go up stairs. The rooms were spacious and clean, although getting a little scuffed and tired. The breakfast was very good, lots of choice and fresh fruit/meats/cheeses and bread.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the same floor as the lift
