We were on our our way to another restaurant which was highly rated on Tripadvisor when it started to rain. Instead of getting wet we decided to enter the first restaurant we saw, and Ente was it.

We ordered four business lunches, which included a spicy soup (which I, at least, liked), rice, a small salad, and a main dish. We also ordered two bottles of water and some eggrolls. All of the dished were fine, the sweet and sour chicken was excellent, and the bill for four people came to just 41 Euro. An excellent meal by any standards.

Visited here for an evening meal whilst visiting Berlin with my 3 kids, who love Chinese food. Walked into the restaurant at around 8pm and there were a few tables occupied inside and - as it was a nice evening - outside. We sat inside and it is a fairly soulless place, lots of wood and quite spartan. The first page of the menu talks about tourists being scammed and then goes on to say that they don't serve free water (as they have bills to pay!) and also there are loads of things that incur extra charges - e.g. we ordered a whole Peking Duck for a pricey €45ish but if you want more than the 12 supplied pancakes - or, God forbid, you want some more Hoi Sin sauce - it's all extra. You go to the toilet and there is a big sign up saying that it is a 50c charge unless you are a paying customer. All seems a bit mean spirited and even more disappointing as the food itself isn't cheap.

The food itself was ok - we've had worse but also better. The service wasn't great - firstly, the Peking Duck arrived at the same time as the main courses. We ordered more water (as the food was very salty) and faced a 10 min wait for a bottle of mineral water to be delivered to our table. Then I wanted to pay and leave quickly but there was no sign of anyone coming to our table, so I walked up to the main till area. 3 people tried to shoo me away back to my table as the one person who could deal with the money was obviously out the back having a drink, smoke or something.

We had a whole duck, sweet and sour chicken, sweet and sour pork, Szechuan prawns and two portions of fried rice plus a beer, a Coke and two bottles of mineral water and it came to just over €120. The head guy got a bit grumpy when I paid cash and didn't leave a tip but, being honest, he didn't deserve it for either the food, ambience or service.

We haven't seen many Chinese restaurants in the Stadtmitte area of Berlin and so this one has a fairly captive market (close to the Berlin City Mall and many hotels). It is not a bad restaurant, just not a very good one and I left feeling that I'd overpaid for the experience that we'd received.

We had a great meal with some authentic Chinese food. Service was a bit slow, but if you've been to a Chinese restaurant in China, you'll be fine. Definitely worth the wait, so stick it out with some starters and enjoy those before getting your mains. Easy to find and location is easy to access.

Just a few remarks on the Peking Ente. This Chinese restaurant sits on the spot where the chancellery had been until the end of the war. In fact, the Fuehrerbunker was just around behind the restaurant. On two different occasions I've wandered in at midday for a beer and large plate of something, The atmosphere is calm (in an uncalm city), the service attentive, and the food was good. I'll be sure to go back again next trip.

Service is really bad, turned us away claiming that the restaurant is not open yet at 12 noon. I asked if We could wait inside without any need for service until the restaurant is ready to serve BUT was turned away. Mind you, on the websites / restaurant main door states that the restaurant is open from 12 noon.
Waited for 30mins in the cold before the waiter said we could go in.

Food was overcooked. Duck was horrible --- dry and tough and overcooked. Eggplant seemed to be dipped in salt. Food was so salty. Waste of our time and money. Worse chinese food in Berlin. You can find better chinese food in the Mall of Berlin foodcourt. And I am chinese so I know the authentic taste of good asian food.
