Needed a Hotel for the Berlin Marathon. The Gates hotel was near a couple of U and S stations and about 15 mins into the centre of the city.
Situated in a up-market neighbourhood, the hotel was quiet and perfect for our visit.
We were travelling with my Wife and Son. Had a ground floor triple room just off the central courtyard with 3 single beds.
Frau Nguyen on reception was lovely and very helpful on arrival.
Bathroom was windowless but clean. Shower had a knack of spraying the floor a bit.
Everything else was basic but fine given we spent most of the time out exploring this cool city. (I ran a personal best marathon)
Not a huge amount of noisy bars and clubs around, which was fine for us. Lots of restaurants though, especially Italian. Berlin seems to love Italian food!
Would recommend, chose based on price given Marathon tourism can be an expensive passion and any chance to get good value accommodation is welcomed. More
