5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2012

I stayed in this hostel for one week, between the 13:th and 20:th of February.

Pro:
* Clean beds
* Locker in the rooms for you to use - you will need a padlock which cost 3 € in the reception or 1 € around the corner in the Landsberger Alle mall.
* Free WiFi on the entrance level
* Breakfast and dinner has a good price, 4.5 € for a breakfast buffé and 2.5 to 6 € for dinner, depending if you want soup, vegetarian or meat dinner.
* Easy to find from the S-Bahn - you just take the S-9 against Parkow from Schönefeld airport, jump off at Landsberger Alle and you will see a big building with the word "Generator" on it
* The showers are good
* The room had two sinks were you could get water or wash your teeth

Cons
- The toilet was small
- No free, cheap soap in the shower

Overall, a good experience. I recommended it.

i spent about three nights in the hostel with friends. we booked a three-bed room with own bathroom and got a four bed one, so we had a lot of space. The price was only 9€ / person/night. The whole object seems to be quite new, including furnishings. The location is great as a S-bahn station is just a few steps only. Free WiFi is available and works well downstairs in lobby while in the room (2nd floor) it was quite unreliable with occasional losses of signal. I think, this facility is perfect choice for ones who look for simple but decent accommodation for budget price.

The hostel was easy to find - right next to the S-Bahn station on Landsberger allee - you can't miss it because it's so big and the name is lit up on top - it's an enormous place! There is also a metro station close by so there is lots of choice for transport!
The room was fine - we booked a 4 person room and it came with bunk-beds. Everything was clean, I couldn't fault it... and we even had our own small sink in the room, even though we did not have a private bathroom, which was nice for brushing your teeth before bed.
The bar downstairs was a bit disappointing because it wasn't very busy - but I suppose that this is more because it was winter and the hostel wasn't very busy. The breakfast was included as well and a little bit chaotic - but it was free so, i didnt really care about the chaos - the selection was fine and I got to eat :)
I'm not sure how noisy the hostel would be when it's busy but when we were there we didn't have any problems.
So, in conclusion - I would say that the plus points were that its clean and has good access to transport. The reason the hostel didn't get full points from me is that the atmosphere wasn't as good as some of the other hostels i've stayed in - nevertheless, i would stay there again and recommend it to friends. Everything was a good standard, including the bathrooms and customer service.

I stayed here for 5 nights during january and the place was massive. It was like a hotel and it was clean, comfortable and my single room was quite large too but the walls were very thin. Breakfast was filling too. This place would be perfect if it werent for the awful location and thats why i would not recommend staying here.Staff are friendly except for this one smart/smug guy at reception who I wont name who thinks he's the best thing ever just because he can speak near perfect english. Free walking tours departing from reception daily is also a plus. Rates are reasonable.

Just 13 euros per night in a very clean and comfortable private dorm, with a complete breakfast and not so far from the city centre. It also has a bar with affordable prices, contests and good music, and a common room with sofas and computers. A great place! If I come back to Berlin, for sure I will repeat!

Good value for money and the self serve breakfast was basic, but nice. Good location next to the train station.

The decor in the place is quite dated, very 80s space ship, but pretty surreal! Major downside was the paper thin walls, we had men snoring on both sides of our room which made it incredibly difficult to get to sleep. Just keep an open mind on how much you're paying and you'll overlook the negative points.

Fantastic walking tour which left from the building at 10am (don't think they do it every day - you'll need to check). We were with an English guy called Sam who was brilliant and at the end he even recommended decent areas to eat and drink. This tour is free, but the guides work for tips, and as the tour went on we kept upping what we were going to give him as he was so great. In the end we gave him 15euros each as he was so fantastic. He answered all our history/Berlin questions and gave us all sorts of tips which made such a difference to the rest of our trip. I recommend you do it on the very first morning you arrive as it takes you all over Berlin and helps you get your bearings.

We would stay again if we wanted somewhere cheap to crash. Would definitely do the tour again too. So interesting.

I stayed here with my boyfriend in August 2008 when we were in Berlin. It is excellent place for young people. it has a free wi-fi but great thing is that they have a FREE walking tours :-) nice add-in. We stayed in room with shared bathrooms. Room was fine with a nice view. bathrooms and showers were clean so there was no problem. we had our own towels, In the room was wash basin and locker for our things. S-bahn and tram are near the hostel so there was no problem to come to the center of Berlin. we had a nice time here so I can recommend Generator hostel to all young people who like life, colours, music, people from all over the world and really want to feel the life in Berlin :-)
