We booked this restaurant before arriving in Berlin so it was a little bit of a gamble. We need not have worried as the welcome and plate of fresh bread and salsas immediately suggested that this was a little find. Our starter was a selection of wonderful Empanadas of various types with cheese, spiced meat, spinach and corn with cheese. Thankfully, these were to share otherwise we would have struggled with the rest of the meal. (Which we did anyway, as you will see)
We both had Estefados which was like two huge pieces of braised steak in a vegetable and onion gravy with three portions of mashed potato. The oft used expression of 'melt in the mouth' is usually the last thing I would say but, this was indeed meat that melted away in the mouth and the amount of chewing was minimal, leaving more time to wash it down with some of the fabulous value Carmenere Reserve Tres Palacios red wine. A real treat of creamy, tasty, fruity mouthfuls of luscious quaffing.
There are over 6,000 restaurants in Berlin so I have no idea whether this is near the top or not. But, we will be back next time we visit this amazing city. Try the Venezuelan Brandy with a black coffee, and free chocolate, before you fly home, whether you are flying or not. You will fly home after this.
This is now the best place we have eaten in in Berlin. The staff are friendly, helpful and there is a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.
