I stayed at this hostel on 6-7 September 2016.
The location is not very convenient, as it was far from the centre of tourist attraction and it was wasting my time and money for transport. I had to walk 5 min to the nearest tram, so that I can take the train to the city centre. The staffs are not very friendly, and one of them couldn't speak English (thankfully I can speak German a bit). The room and bathroom was ok, though. But nothing special. There were not many visitors, so probably don't expect a youthful ambiance if you stay here.
There are a huge supermarket and a road with some restaurants, but you had to walk a bit from the hostel.
They don't have kitchen and breakfast.
I wouldn't recommend this hostel unless you are visiting Berlin for an event which venue is close to this hostel.

Long overdue review. I would highly recommend staying here. Very fond memories of friendly hosts and good communal areas where great friends were made. The hosts were kind enough to let me and some friends take a casserole dish out to one of the local parks on a sunny day.

It was our first time in Berlin, judging by the reviews this could be better than the average hostel. Still, here's our review.

The good points: great staff, friendly and helpful. The shared kitchen is well equipped with two refrigerators and lots of space. The shared area is really confortable, suitable for meeting people, planning the next day or watching TV. I also saw a nice stack of board games. The beds are huge and really confortable! Also, the position is not bad: it's far away from the center, yet there is a LIDL nearby, and two S-Bahn and U-Bahn stops. The place is pretty calm, both inside and outside. Nice Internet connection.

The bad points: the rest of the hostel looks really old, as it's located inside a residential building (actually it's split in two sections).
Lots of problems with the electrical system: the wall plug in our room was malfunctioning and sparking, the lights in the bathrooms / shower rooms broke during our stay (shower in the dark!), yet the concierge was aware of it. They got fixed only on the last day.
The showers are pretty basic, with old curtains, not enough hooks and the water temperature regulator which is difficult to manage.

The key system is quite bizarre: there is only one key for each room, which has to be left at the concierge's. That means that either you know who you're sleeping with, or you'll somehow have to share the key. Luckily, we were 3 in a dorm of 4, the fourth bed was always free.

A friend and I stayed at this hostel in a 10-bed dorm (not shown in pictures) for 2 nights as we were travelling around Europe on a budget. The hostel was easy to reach with a train station nearby (about 20 mins away from Berlin Central Station) and a Lidl a 5 minute walk away. The staff are friendly with rooms that are reasonably clean. The biggest problem for us was that this was NOT a youth hostel. Most of the clientele are middle aged with some staying for much longer periods of time (i.e a few weeks to a few months). We felt weirdly uncomfortable sitting in the main common room with very little to do in the evenings (Very slow Wi-Fi etc). We unfortunately tried our best to avoid the hostel until it was around 10-11pm so that we could just get in and sleep and leave early the next morning.

In conclusion, an OK hostel to rest your head but that is all it is.

Very cheap and comfortable hostel, located only 15minutes from the S-Bahn or U-Bahn station. There is the wifi only at the reception but it's okey because you can enjoy spending time sitting on the sofas chatting with other people and surfing with your mobile. The kitchen was very big and the bathrooms/toilets were very clean. The room was newly decorated and very well presented. All the staff was very friendly but they don't accept cards, only cash, as most of the shops there in Berlin!!! In my opinion it's the best solution for someone who wants to stay in a cheap and comfy place quite in the middle of Berlin!
