We were passing there not knowingly around midday time. There was a huge tourist crowd so we thought ther emust be something. The bells are really sweet to listen and the song goes on longer than 5 minutes. On the side there is a piece of column turning and showing some wonderers, we realised it a bit later because we were to focused on the bells :p

I found this while guiding a friend around Bremen. I live here but haven't had chance to explore much. Though it says the glockenspiel only plays 3 times a day we seem to have caught a bonus showing.

The revolving display, to the left, includes some odd things - including Alcock and Brown and Columbus. However this is a charming thing to stumble onto.

The bells ring at 11:00 15:00 and 18:00 and last about 10 minutes. Look out for the rotating display.

Worth waiting for , get there before the crowd forms.

The Böttcherstraße is also part of germans Märchenstrasse (streets of the fairy tales). And indeed you can find a lot of them in this street. Beside the fountain of the city musicians are the statues of the lazy seven brothers. At the entry you can find a big golden sculpture of Siegfried the Dragon Slayer and when you hear the bells you can see the history of the town and its important citizen.
Take some time and go to see this place. Best on a sunny summer day. Event tho it will be crowded by tourists.
Also there are some interesting museums in here and some parts are even accessible without any entrance fee.
If you are stopping by, get yourself a coffee on one end of the street from a local coffee brand (no such fancy stuff as latte or so, just pure black coffee maybe with sugar and/or milk) and next to the fountain, for the kids some sweets from the candy manufacture where you can watch them make the candies by hand.

When you are in Bremen don't miss this amazing Street. It offers beautiful buildings and some very lovely shops. At noon the bells out of Meissner China create a lovely moment. Watch the tower opening up at that time and showing the Bremen transport history. It is great.
