Me and my partner went with another couple, my best friend and his partner to Hamburg from the UK. Having visited Germany to 3 different cities previously we new what to expect. Great culture, great people and very friendly. We were up for an adventure!

Hamburg is the like many of Germany’s cities, modern; built up, vibrant with lots of things to do and places to go. With Hamburg being Germany’s second biggest city, the first Berlin you have to accept a lot of walking and travelling to get around.

We went for 2 nights/2 days, a quick break; should of done 3 days. Still a lot to see, not much to do on Sundays mind you, as retail areas are closed; shops etc. Bars and restaurants are still open though!

Hamburg was 80 per cent destroyed in WW2 so don’t expect to see a lot of old buildings and an old quarter; although there are areas.

The Reeperbahn is one of the areas to be, some theatres and entertainment in this area. Lots of bars and clubs, very lively more so for couples; not children! As there are a lot of sex shops, strip clubs in this district, so be weary and don’t be surprised. This is the German culture, drinking, having fun etc, and they’re not afraid to show it.

There are plenty of other areas of the city to visit away from the hustle and bustle of the Reeperbahn to investigate, so pack your bags and book those flights and accommodation.

If I visit Hamburg again I won’t stay at this hotel...
To far out the city, 10 minute taxi journey; 45 minute walk in the industrial quarter of the city. Views are industrial from the hotel, at all angles. Nothing around the area to visit, bars, restaurants wise you have to either walk, taxi or bus. Taxi is €10-€15 one way. Bus is €4 return. Buses run until late also around midnight. There is a McDonald’s a 10 minute walk away though if your starving after beers!

The hotel is very clean, modern in reception, rooms are very clean semi modern; just a little dated probably; 2000’s era. The restaurant serves at set times, not open normally in the afternoon, and neither is the bar in this area. You can buy alcohol still though from reception (bottles). Worth staying at the hotel if you don’t mind travelling to and from the city every day via public transport.

Enjoy your visit!

We stayed here for three nights in December. The rooms are cleverly designed with a solid door between the entrance/bathroom/dressing area and the sleeping area so that one person can shower & dress without disturbing their sleeping partner. There is a microwave, mini-fridge and electric jug, as well as a small supply of plates, cups, glasses and cutlery, and well as the equipment necessary to wash them up. The bed was cosy and there was also a small living area. The 112 bus takes you from outside the hotel to the centre of Hamburg and it comes regularly. If you are taking public transport from the airport, get out at Hamburg Hautbahnhof and exit from the shopping centre end. Cross the street and the bus stop is a little to your left, opposite Starbucks.

We stayed at this hotel in late December whilst in Hamburg for the Christmas markets and thought it was fantastic!

The staff were great, from the helpful front desk who took care of everything we needed and pointed us in the right direction, to the evening bar staff who look after your needs with regards to food and drink... one waiter even taught us some German whilst we were sat having a few beers.

Its quite far out of the centre but don't let that put you off. The clinical bus service can be caught literally outside the main door. Its then around 10 minutes or so into the main area.

Rooms were clean, comfy and VERY warm. Which is exactly what we needed after braving the wonter conditions all day.
