Really enjoyed food, decor and friendly staff until at the end when the waiter asked for a 10% tip! It's even written on the bill in English 'Tip is not included' whilst all the text is German. Better to go where German people go. Wouldn't recommend, this is a place to rip tourists off.

Enjoyed a lovely evening here. Food was fantastic and service faultless. Made to feel very welcome. Small restaurant so would advice booking ahead.

We had dinner here based on the great reviews and also because it was very close to our hotel. We wanted to have traditional German fare during our one day stop in Hamburg.
My husband and I had the Beet root Salad with fig mustard baked goat cheese, the Beef Olive with red cabbage and boiled potatoes and, the Labscouse (Hamburg Style). This was our first time trying these dishes and we thought they were delicious.
Our server was a lady born and raised in Hamburg, she explained the things in the menu very well. She also very attentive (I am sorry I do not remember your name), but we were there on June 22. They had a very nice wine list, the decoration was very traditional, because it used to be homes for widows of the members of the Grocer''s Institute.

Really Cosy place, the furniture fits perfectly to the building, bring you back to old data. Waiter was polite and was there when we needed him. The food was good but not better than every other gasthaus in germany we got schnitsel and a steak.
Nothing bad to say, but we where missing the wauv effect. Will we come back? Maybe!
