Lovely, large park with nice varied vegetation (trees, flowers, meadows), slightly hilly, all on the border of the Rhine. Nice restaurants, sufficient parking space. Ideal for a walk, running, cycling, reading, relaxing. There is also a great 20th century statue of Beethoven that is not to be missed - as well as other sculptures.

This park is well maintained. I recommend to stroll around in it.
There are many small lakes and it is directly next to the Rhein river.
By the way: You might be able to see some turtles!

yes, this is a place both inhabitants of Bonn, people nearby and visitors go to enjoy a lovely spring and summer day. A lot of nature, flowers, trees, a lake, the river Rhein, little hills the children can run up and down, barbecue places, a restaurant, some activities to spend time. What else do you need?

I used to live in Bonn so know the area well. In fact I knew it when it was just green fields and a shepherd used to keep his sheep there. The National Garden Show in I think 1979/80 transformed the whole are into a park with lakes, gardens and a fantastic children's playground. Unfortunately the children's playground is gone but the Japanese garden remains.
It can be easily reached by a walk along the Rhine from the City centre or by public transport. It is right next door to where the parliament building was when Bonn was the capital. The park is a beautiful place to walk or cycle around with plenty of benches to relax. One can continue through the park along the Rhine to Bad Godesberg and further - the views are lovely across to the Sieben Gebirge.
When one reaches the end of the park if going towards Bad Godesberg you will come across a housing development which was the housing for the American diplomats. The church still remains and the schools is now an international one.
If you have a bike and cycle further along the Rhine you will also come across a very nice open air swimming pool - I have not been in years but I hope it is still nice, Germany has fantastic open air swimming pools. Bikes can be hired from behind the station in Bonn - cycling along the Rhine is lovely and flat!
When my children were small they loved the playground there so now it is gone but it still makes a great place for children to cycle or roller blade etc.

Lovely serene green park, where you can stroll through in delight! One of the best things that come with living in Bonn. Concerts or festivals are also organized in the park during summer and as it's a really big area, while one part of the park parties hard, the other side doesn't even hear a thing.
