The nicely decorated and furnished restaurant is a wonderful place to forget everything except eating and drinking together with best friends.

The service is very professional: attentive and friendly at the same time. The choice of the menu and the winelist is just overwhelming: Just follow the advice of your waiters. We've enjoyed very tasty pasta with white truffles (as a main course), fresh tuna fish (as a starter) and swordfish grilled with care (as a light main course). Everybody of our crowd has left the ristorante in a perfect mood and not hungry at all. We shall come back. And last but not least the bill was OK.

a classic in cologne, casa de biase is off the tourists walkingroutes ( 10 min or € from the cathedral) in a nice neighborhood.
biase food is classic high level italian with a notch of fusion, but only if you want it. nice terrace on a large circlular square near parks and the südstadt, the southern inner city.
wines are fabulous, and the padrone always has a good tipp.
their dessert speciality is a mnufactured chocolat mass in several tastes - not my cup of tea, but the others liked it.
count +- 40-50 pp for food - and the wine will determine the rest ;-)

The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. Our coats were taken care of after entry by the friendly staff. Decent lounge music is being played in the background and the warm light and the wooden interior give the place a cozy look and feel. Antipasti were great for starters: carpaccio with parmesan & truffles shavings, mozzarella di bufala and sautéed tuna were all well prepared and delicious. Make sure you ask for the daily specials there is always more to choose from usually then what is offered on the main card (especially fish dishes). Next I had Conchiglie Rigate noodles with a fennel sauce topped with Salsiccia sausage pieces. The noodles were al dente to the point and the sauce a dream. I could choose between a small or normal portion. For the secondi platti I went for an grilled medium-rare Entrecôte with spinach while my wife had angler fish on a zucchini bed. For desert we had a panna cotta with mango cubed and a pistachio sauce. The wine card is excellent and you can order by glass or bottle but not a decanter. We found the food to be unobjectionable while the service could have been a tad quicker and friendlier. In my opinion a very sophisticated Italian restaurant that lives up to it's reputation. Make sure you reserve a table in advance on weekends and check out if there is some live piano music! Also bring a stuffed wallet as our evening set us back €150 including tip.

We were looking for a change from the local cuisine and found this restaurant in the Cologne Tourist Board guide. Wanting Italian food, this restaurant was second in the guide. The first in the guide had no vacancies so by sheer luck we happened upon Casa Di Biase. The ambiance is nicely Italian, the menu was short and uncomplicated with a number of daily changing specials. The staff were extremely helpful with translation, but the food was quite wonderful. That was the unanimous verdict of the 3 of us.
