“Good location”

The hotel is situated just a few meters from the train station, as well as from the city center and this is a great advantage. Our room was very small, with street view and was illuminated by the hotel logo, so we had during the night to much light in the room. For the breakfast was everything there, I did not like the quality, but acceptable.

City Hotel Duesseldorf is a Average but clean hotel in nice location of Duesseldorf. It around 5 minutes walking to main train station, also it's 5 minutes walking to famous Konigsalle street and 10 minutes walking to old town and Rein river.

My room was a little bit small but clean and comfort. There was not refrigerator and safe box in the room. Toilets and bath was clean including hairdryer. Breakfast was buffet and ok. For wifi internet, they charge you 4 Euro per 24 hours.

Stayed 7 nights in early December 2011. Location: Under 10 minutes walk from railway station and once you have got your bearings the Oststrasse U-Bahn stop - a few minutes to the city centre - has an exit on an adjacent street. Situated in a relatively quiet area - didn't go in but there was a nice looking coffee shop across the road and other bars and restaurants nearby. Quiet at night - my room was at the back and there were none of the normal city noises, sirens, shouting, vehicles etc. Single room: Clean and spacious; the only things missing that would have been helpful was a proper desk (side table only with the TV taking up most of that) and a room safe. Bed was OK but the mattress was a bit thin. Good bathroom/shower. Excellent buffet breakfast with a good range of hot and cold food. Staff friendly and efficent. Would definitley stop here again.

Only spent one night here during Eurovision week as the rest of the week it became too expensive.

The hotel is near a few of the gay bars and clubs in DUsseldorf and a short walk from Alstadt. Transport is nearby (nearest station) Oststrasse and the main station is a 10 min walk.

Hotel seemed clean, the rooms were an OK size (compared to the Ibis). My biggest complaint was the bed and pillows which were so thin that even after 2 pillows it still felt there was nothing there.

Breakfast was included which is a small buffet. Nothing amazing but enough to start the day with.

Despite other reviewers, the staff seemed friendly enough and spoke English. And as for the complaints about the slow, old life - yes it is a bit old but I think it's part of the charm of these European hotels.

Wifi was only available at a charge of 4 Euros per day.

Would stay here again if the price was reasonable but for cost would stay at the Ibis.

Because I used my cousin's credit card to charge the hotel, the receptionist, upon our arrival, didn't accept that and was constantly asking ( in very poor English), for either an authorised e-mail from the owner of the credit card, or an immediate payment in cash! All the staff was rather unfriendly and especially some of the cleaning ladies, who, instead of dusting under the armchairs ( one could find enough hair for a mini wig!), came into my room while I was having breakfast! They didn't leave even when they saw me waiting to use my bathroom, and in perfect German kept mumbling about something, which I still don't understand!
There was not even a fridge, or a mini bar in our room..
All in all, the service was extremely poor and so was the staff, not to mention that it was very overpriced , due to several exhibitions taking place at the same time!

Room Tip: Bring your own pillow, since the ones provided ...

Despite charging 300Euro a night, this hotel does not even provide the service/amenities of a 2* hotel.
Hotel lobby and lift are horrendously old and staff, with one exception, are unfriendly, and, in the case of housekeeping, just plain rude. Got two housekeepers get into my room with no permission. Speaking in German (which I dont speak) and loud. It was an absurd moment in my life. One day the room was not cleaned at all.

Rooms are super dated and the hotel needs to pay more attention to cleaning. No mini bar. Amenities consist of small bags of shower gel/shampoo that are impossible to open and that other clients have tried to open before. Really unhigienic.

I strongly advise NOT to book this hotel. If you are, don't pay more than 40Euro a night. It is not worth it.
