“Good hotel, a little bit noisy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 November 2011

We have stayed here for one night to do some christmas shopping in CentrO.

The hotel is perfectly situated for the great Oberhausen neue mitte.

Don't expect a quite room though, the hotel is a bit noisy. A shame for a good hotel with great staff!

To summarize the hotel : It urgently needs maintenance in its equipment , and rooms:
Where do i start :
-Phones do not work properly in all rooms hired .No way to call front desk , restaurant or room to room , dialing by name lastname option made you call and be called by wrong room numbers.
-Dirty hallways (puke-like stain in the carpet in the hallway across room 357, a broken bottle of glass in front of room 352.... )
-In the 3rd floor guests were having problems with the terribly functioning doorlocks, the card readers in this hotel fail again and again and again .....it is not fun to arrive to your room after a long day and have to go down for a new key , go to dinner arrive again , and back to the reception , go for breakfast to your room and again go for a "key" reprogramming...
-Colleagues reported the "regular" rooms to be old and run-down...they switched rooms to the "premium" ones. I stayed in a "premium" room and it was satisfactory but nothing to brag about....
-I will not say there is "Rudeness" in the hotel personnel...their attitude is more neutral :they just don't care, whether you have problems...its like if they know the hotel has a lot of problems and it has been like that for a long time so they expect to have guests complaining ...
-As of the time of our arrival the parking lot was extremely full , not enough car parking slots.
-Parking lot card reader not working properly , saw several drivers had to go for another ticket..
-Centro shopping center is OK restaurants are very chain-style quality /commercial quality ,surrounding grounds of shopping center are nicely landscaped .
-RIP Paul the octopus...

Love the location..It's only 200m to Centro.
But the room is 2* eighties design...
And the price is for the room high.
And no free WIFI.

We stayed the night because we went to an event at the Arena. It is just across the street from the arena and the mall. You can't ask for a better location. The hotel is clean, easy to access and basic.

We booked the Tryp Centro Hotel because it was near to the venue where a festival was taking place. Check in was friendly and efficient. The room was well kept and clean, though quite basic. It would have been nice if there had been a minibar or fridge. Bathroom was OK, but the construction of the shower was a bit awkward, so taking a shower led inevitably to an all wet bathroom.
Breakfast buffet was good.
The hotel was near the Centro Shopping mall with many restaurants and bars, which was nice.
We were happy to spend 3 nights there and we have already booked for next year!

We went to see AC/DC in Oberhausen, so the Tryp was perfect for staying the 2 nights as the König Pilsener Arena is just over the road. The hotel was alright, nothing fancy though. A bit like drinking water or driving a Nissan...it fulfills its purpose. The room was clean and quiet, no complaints at all.

I'll make this short. I usually don't write reviews about bad hotels unless they turned out really bad. I needed a double room real bad at the centro with my really slow bandwidth that day I could only find this hotel next to the centro (great location btw:that about all the plus you're gonna get) for 69 Euro (online price)..still had to pay 80 and an extra 3 bucks for the parking area (which isn't really electronically monitored).book online if you have to stay here.
Lobby, pillows and the rest of the room smell of nicotine. Awfully trained receptionist(Judith) running the desk. I paid my hotel fees up front (like everyone else that day) with a 500 Euro bill, finding change turned out to be a big fuss. Therefore I had to endure "the dirty look" while she was opening the cash register - I have a feeling they have been through some pretty rough stuff.

Take your most prized belongings with if u have to leave the room...or better...don't check in at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
