Great room with an incredible view and only 100 yards from the Roman gate. Clean room with comfortable beds and a decent shower. The only down side would be that like other historic hotels it offers heat but no cooling... we were here during a mini heat wave with temperatures in the mid eighties and had to sleep with all the windows open. There was a nice restaurant in the hotel but we did not stop in. Outdoor dining was also offered. Trier is a beautiful city with a history dating back to Roman times.

Room Tip: We had a room on the fourth floor (5th floor for Americans) which offered a breathtaking view of the city and surrounding hills.

This is an ideal Hotel close to the town centre we went at Christmas time which was magical. However, also visted during summer it is a delightful city with plenty for everyone. Well worth a stay in any season

Room Tip: Friendly staff, clean rooms and wonderful breakfast

Lovely period hotel right next to one of the main attractions of Trier, Porta Nigra! A room to the back turned out to be fairly quiet. The room was medium size, very clean with comfortable beds. June turned out to be very hot in Germany and most hotels don't have air/con, but we were given a fan that cut down on the heat in the room. Breakfast was lovely with extensive choices, even for vegetarians! There is an option to sit outside or in the art deco breakfast room. Service was wonderful, friendly and prompt. Buses leave just around the corner, but it is an easy stroll to the train station, even in 30 degrees heat and with luggage. We walked from the hotel to the thermes, only took about 20 minutes or so. Definitely would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the back of the hotel/courtyard.

This is an old building next to the Porta Nigra but modernised with an elevator and light and airy interiors. My room was reasonably large with a good bathroom and a small sitting area by a window that overlooked the only attractive old buildings on the east side of Trier. The road was noisy but no problem with the window shut.

The wifi was extremely slow, far and away the slowest I had in two weeks in Germany. It could be too slow for business travellers who need wifi. The TV was old and couldn’t use USB drives. The free breakfast was ok. Apart from that, there’s not much to say, it was really quite a pleasant stay in a very convenient location for a reasonable price, and I heartily recommend it.
