The staff here could not have been more helpful and accommodating. They were thoughtful, outgoing, pre-emptive in trying to help us and understand our needs as two families traveling together, and they were fantastic.
The hotel is a bit misleading -- it is not housed in the original castle, rather in an outlining building. The actual castle is within the grounds of the park; and the park is open to the public (for a fee - both to the public and hotel guests) from morning to evening. It is possible to wander in the park in early morning or late evening hours without paying a fee (and I strongly encourage doing so - the grounds are beautiful) but beware, they do close the gates to the garden exactly when they say they will, and it's a bit distressing to be caught inside.
The hotel was comfortable and adequate, definitely 3 star, not 4. Rooms were a pleasant size, there was a minibar, and the beds were decently comfortable. There is no air conditioning and the furnishings were gently worn. Breakfast was a decent variety, with lots of lovely choices, and a couple hot "made to order" options. As long as you are not lofty in your expectations, this hotel was very comfortable and pleasant to stay at.More
