Spacious for four of us

The Hotel grounds are beautiful, and the room was very clean, quaint, comfortable. We were able to get a room with no reservation, and it had a loft for my boys to sleep in twin beds. Located outside the center of the city, it is about a half-hour walk to the churches, and the Elbe River is close. We were driving, and found parking in the city was simple. Traditional breakfast of breads, cheeses, meats included. Wifi was only available in the lobby downstairs, not in the room.

We walked into town which proved to be a bit further than we'd have liked (a good half hour) but Wittenberg was worth it. The accommodation was basic but really good value for money and in a very interesting old building: a Napoleonic fortress. Slightly limited but adequate breakfast. Would definitely stay again and all the people we encountered were helpful and cheerful. Safe storage provided for bikes.

Very nice accomodation! really really wonderful guest house! Old fashion hotel but perfectly functioning, warm, clean and suitable. You may find kindness people running the hotel, the lady is wonderful nice and ready to take you off any worries. Quite and relax are guarranteded. Of you need to go to downtown, you may walk down to the pedestrian way at any hour of the day or night without driving your car.

The hotel is situated at the marina on the south shore of the river Elbe, just outside Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The hotel part is renovated, and it appears to have been done fairly recently. The rooms are nice and clean and give a very fresh impression. The breakfast is nothing fancy but ok. The only negative aspect is that due to its position there is a 1/2 hour walk to reach the town. On the other hand you walk in a nice landscape so if you're not in a hurry it is ok.

Privacy and relaxation are the key words here. Arriving in the evening without a reservation, we found this hotel/campsite on the GPS and gave it a try. It's a stately and serene place on large, green riverside grounds with a pretty view of Wittenberg (though the trees probably block it from the hotel itself). The shy but very polite young concierge gave us one of the four very reasonably priced "bicycle huts" near the river; a basic but clean wooden cabin with comfortable beds, closet, a table and camping chairs, and a little porch out front. The spacious and clean camping bathrooms were just across the road--the only thing lacking for budget travellers is a place to cook. After a horrid night of no sleep in Berlin, this was exactly what we needed. The place was so quiet we were afraid to slam our car doors! Obviously this is what people come here for, as the neighbours were highly reserved and barely said hello.

Bread rolls delivered to our door in the morning were also a big plus, and a chip for the electronic gate allowed us to come and go with the car as we pleased. Because we'd left a window ajar in the oppressive heat (which was making our hut smell like a sauna), an epic thunderstorm tore the locked cabin doors open while we were in town, but this is not the kind of place where you have to worry about your stuff going missing (though obviously you shouldn't leave valuables there).

A couple of km outside of town across the river, so only recommended if you arrive by car or bike. Great value at ~ 40 Euros for a hut in high season.

I stayed at the Bruckenkopf when I went to a festival at Ferropolis. This hotel is a 7 euro cab fare from Wittenberg town. The reception staff were delightful and happy to assist with my enquiries. My room was in a renovated fortress. The room was basic and clean. Breakfast buffet was included. The only issue I had was that I sleep better in a dark room and the curtains don't block out much light.
