A war-time bunker still standing, interesting if you want to see how life was for the average German in the first half of the 20th century with focus on WW2.

Interesting and rewarding to anyone interested in history and society. A special atmonspere. For example has the building a four-meter thick ceiling.
Three floors with different exhibitions. All texts are in german but the exhibitions also contains many interesting photos and other objects.
Friendly and generous staff.

Understanding the mass destruction and horrors of war, WW11, viewing the bunkers first hand really illustrates the destruction.

Visited today 11/8/2016 and I had a short introduction by the volunteer, this place as said is an original bunker II WW , well kept in every sense, in someway restored and opened few years ago, because forgotten or they did not want to show, previous authority. There are frequent temporary exhibition about war, photos, paint, memorabilia. It takes a tour in real facts, testimony, I loved some art like origami, graffiti, show all horror of war. There are shells of bombs, it is placed on three floors, including a top aerial view of the bunker, the too. Little parking space, facilities (toilet) , very poor. Yes the floor and wall were very thick, best concrete .

Kiel was almost obliterated during WW2 and this bunker was one of the few buildings left standing - when you look at the structure you'll understand why! The guy at reception was very friendly in explaining the various exhibits. Unfortunately the majority of displays are only in German but you do get an understanding of the history of Kiel and the difficult times the population had to suffer towards the end of WW2. There are unexploded bombs on display and a viewing platform on top of the building. Some of the walls have been cut out and glassed over so the interior feels quite light - definitely not how it would have felt during a bombing raid!! Entrance is 4e or 3e for concessions.
