Located in old town, walking distance to bars, restaurants and all there is to see and do in Cordoba, the place surprised us, looks recently refurbished and had exceeded our expectations, left us wondering why is not a hotel, as hostels have somewhat negative connotations for most travellers. Santa Ana is excellently priced and presented, not your average modest, basic hostel, would recommend it for your stay in Cordoba. Just keep in mind if arriving by car to park at start of old town and cross it on foot.

Situated down a small but busy side road, the Santa Ana is clean, comfortable and welcoming and well situated for visiting the lovely Old Town with all of its cultural attractions. Our double room was simply but appropriately furnished with plenty of room and hanging space. The bathroom was equally well equipped, but no hair dryer. The second floor has its own sun terrace, which was a bonus when returning from a busy day out or for having a snack lunch and relaxing. Breakfasts were generous and tasty. The only downside was that the small road outside the hotel is busy and therefore noisy if windows are left open, but this for us was a minor point when there is so much else to commend staying here.

Pros
* Clean room and bathroom
* Central location in the old town, 2 minutes from the main site, Mezquita
* Cheap single room
* Free wi-fi
* Cable TV
* Small cupboard and table
* Toiletries provided (shower gel etc)
* 10 minute taxi ride (appx 10 euros) from Renfe train station
* Maps and tourist material in the lobby
* Water available for purchase
* Elevator
* Friendly service

Cons
* Compact room so don't expect to walk around the room once your bags are down
* Compact shower stall which was fine for me but not if you are not compact
* Furnishings were a bit worn down including wall paint, but not too badly
* No breakfast, but I suggest walking out of the main city wall entrance and there are about four cafes frequented by locals with good choice and non tourist prices

Overall, a good value choice if you want to be near everything and don't mind not having a spacious single room.

Reasonably simple accommodation that doesn't offer breakfast but which is fantastically situated near the Mezquita. Very pleasant reception staff. Our room (106) was perfectly fine and clean but suffered from traffic and general noise although the bed was very comfortable so that compensated. The main drawback was the bathroom. The support for the shower head was broken, the ceiling above the shower was peeling and the top surface of the basin cupboard looked very 'grubby' and needed a good clean. For what it was, it was quite expensive (80€) but then it was during the Fiesta de los Patios. In spite of the criticisms, we would return if spending a single night in Córdoba.

Room Tip: Do not have a room overlooking the road!!!!

Small but very comfortable place very close to all the important places to visit My room was a good size with simple en suite facilities and wide bed. The breakfast was good with fresh fruit, cereals, and cold meats. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: My room was at the front and there was street noise late at night. Go for a room at the back.
