“Beauiful clean hostel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 March 2012

After a long trip from Marrakesh Morocco and missing our bus in Algeciras to Madrid a nice taxi driver drove us to this hostel from Algerciras (or course costing a pretty penny). We arrived at the hostel around 2 am completely exhausted. The gentleman at the check-in was very friendly and got us checked in fast so that we could sleep before we had to catch a 7am train ride to Madrid so that we would not miss our flight back to America.
The hostel was very clean and the decor was very beautiful and there was wifi connection. It is conveniently located directly across the street from the rapid train station. I wish I could have spent more time in this hostel!

I stayed here in September last year, having flown to Malaga airport, intending to take the bus to Granada the next day (there is no train connection to Granada, and it is not possible at time of writing to fly to Granada on a direct external flight). I arrived at 23.30 with no booking and was lucky enough to get a room (I like to live dangerously!). The staff are polite and efficient. The prices are very reasonable. The rooms are clean and are quiet at the back of the hotel. The hotel is extremely conveniently sited for transport. The train from Malaga airport arrives at Maria Zambrano Station which is in the Vialia shopping mall. The hotel is only a short walk from the front entrance of the mall, and the bus station for ALSA buses to all Andalucia and also further afield (a bus to Romania leaves regularly) is also only a short walk away. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again and would recommend it to anyone on a tight budget wanting to stay in downtown Malaga.

This first floor hostal is directly opposite the rail station. The rooms are smallish, but the beds are firm and the level of cleanliness is high. Being on the first floor, the power of the shower is delightfully strong. We came in late September, and negotiation is well worthwhile, leading to a considerable drop in the nightly rate, which is going to be much less than such as Ibis.
The area nearby is not your posey touristy style- it's where people of Malaga live, work, and eat. So you don't pay an inflated price for deflated quality, as you will if your eat at the snackeries in the centre of the trap, and you'll find yourself being served slowly, without pressure - do you get the impression that I am less than deeply in love with touristic commercialisation - that I don't find flabby boiled prawns to my taste?
The bars directly below do very reasonable stock tapas and are much used and well priced & friendly. Best small-meal place we've been to in Spain is just about 150 metres away, in the square adjoining Nuestra Senora del Carmen, where the fish, prawns, meats and mussels are cooked fast and fresh before your very eyes, and taste wonderful - it's called a hamburger bar, of all thing - El Gran Poder.

Room Tip: Ask to be at the rear. Negotiate.
