“Great little hotel”

Stayed in the Astoria for two nights prior to going on a cruise. It was excellent - conveniently located close to principal sights and easily accessible from the airport by bus (fare €2.00) or taxi (fare about €20.00). There is also a metro station within a few yards of the hotel entrance. Receptionist was friendly with good English. Room was quite pleasant and included a whirlpool bath! All in all I'd highly recommend the Astoria.

We stayed at the Eurostars Astoria hotel for 2 nights before going on a cruise and 1 night after our cruise. The hotel is in an excellent location if you are coming in to Malaga by train from the airport as the last stop for the train (Malaga central) is just outside the hotel. Our room for the 2 nights was at the back of the hotel and could sleep 3 people. It was very quiet and we didn't hear any noise at all. The room we had for our 1 night stay was at the front but was smaller than our previous one but was still quiet if the window was closed. We paid 7 euros each per day for continental breakfast and we thought this was good value as there was a fairly good choice and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted. The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived at the hotel before 9 o'clock in the morning after our cruise and they gave us a room right away. You can leave your luggage in a locked room if you need to and this is handy. I would definitely stay here again if we were going back to Malaga in the future.

Room Tip: Our room at back of hotel was larger than room we had at front

This little gem of a hotel is right downtown Malaga. Fairly close to the pier and very near several restaurants and bars. I was a little apprehensive when I booked it for the night before a Mediterranean cruise, but very happy once we arrived. The rooms were small but well appointed and very clean. There was even a whirlpool tub in the bathroom. We had a great time walking through the streets and checking out the town and wouldn't hesitate to book it for a couple nights if I were ever to return to Malaga!

About the prices, they were good for December and you have a train station, coming from the airport, one block from hotel. It's a short walk to downtown historic area. There aren't much choices of places to eat around the hotel, but we found a pizza place that was nice.
Our first staying was great. We had a confortable, quiet and clean room. I don't remember the number but was one of the rooms on the right of the building, when you look from outside. No complains at all. But the second time, we had a room on the first floor. The sound proof window wasn't working properly, you could hear the traffic outside and we asked to change room. This time we went to the third floor and there was a very bad smell coming from the bathroom. As we were tired and staying there just 2 nights decided not to complain anymore, close the bathrooms' door and open the windows. Next morning the smell was better but still there. We went downstairs to have breakfast and at the reception there was a bad smell too.
I'm not sure if I would stay there again.

Stayed in Malaga for six nights but in this hotel for only two of those. Due to high demand we could only get our desired hotel for the last four nights of our stay so booked this hotel, as it was just down the road and we have stayed at Eurostars hotel in Barcelona in the past, for the first two evenings. Reception area is pokey to say the least but check in was friendly enough. Took the very small elevator to the seventh floor and were greeted by an alarming smell (similar to very blocked toilets/drains or the like) The room was even worse! Put up with it for the first night as we were lucky to have a room at all with the Malaga Feria being on and being very tired. Complained next morning and were told they could move us as a room had become available. However when we returned we were told theat the broken air conditioning had been fixed in our room. We explained that we were not returning to that room and had to go through the reason again! Long story short we were given another room (on the fourth floor) which did not smell however the air conditioning did not work in this room either. The safe in this room also had a problem but they just took it out the cupboard and put another on the shelf! I thought the whole point of a safe was that it couldn't just be lifted off the shelf and taken away! We had paid for breakfast for the two days but my husbands description of it on the first day meant we did not venture back. There is no bar; there is a shelf with bottles of drink on it in reception. After all this negativity I have to say the beds and bathroom were clean. Worst of all was the price a,s because of the Feria, the hotel had upped their prices and for our stay here we paid more than £30 more each night than we did for the 5 star hotel where we spent the remainder of our holiday. After complaining when we checked out staff on reception reduced our bill for the first evening by 30%. Could not wait to leave and certainly won't be back

Room Tip: From our experience the lower the room the less they smell

We booked this hotel very last minute as we ended up in Malaga unexpectedly. The reception area looks lovely nad is very clean and welcoming. The staff were also friendly and helpful. The room itself is not the biggest, but we already know that european hotels tend to be smaller than uk 4 star hotels (what we are usually used to). This did not bother us as there was still plenty of storage room. There was a nice flat screen tv with many channels including BBC News which we welcomed. The room was very clean and modern. We loved the bath feature which included a jacuzzi feature. The hot and cold water was available to us so no problems there.
There is also a hair dryer and a few bottles of body wash, soap and a comb.

The air conditioning was perfect for us and not very noisy as we kept it on all night. The rooms were very well sound proofed as we did not hear anything from outside or other guests so had a great sleep.

The receptionist we had was very helpful in providing maps and telling us where the best resturants, shops etc were. I believe he did not speak much english but we understood him and he tried very hard to help us.

We would stay again if back in Malaga.

No hot water, no excuses. An attitude of: these things happen, nothing to do with us. No recompense or gift. I mean, what's unusual about no hot water?
Room, bathroom and breakfast (except undrinkable koffie) are all reasonable. Near to centre, far from beach. Staff is polite but do not seem to be interested in the guest standing in front of them. Really ugly view from bedroom window. Not recommended.
