“Nice hotel in prime location”
Reviewed 18 April 2012

We spent four nights here and enjoyed our visit. Malaga is an interesting town and the hotel is perfectly located for the museums, sights, cafes and restaurants that are uniformly of a good standard. It is also easily accessible from the Airport - take the Line A Express bus (every 30 minutes) for a €2 fare. The journey took 20 minutes each way and the bus stops are about 100 metres from the hotel.

Our 4th floor room was very clean and comfortable - and carpeted floors kept adjacent noise to nothing. The quietest room we have had in years! The room itself was an internal room looking out on the atrium so no street noise at all. Towels and sheets were changed every day, and the tea/coffee facility was kept topped up at all times. Well done to an excellent housekeeping team.

Sadly the roof terrace was closed during our visit for maintenance but there was a nice sun terrace on the 6th floor that did the job for us - and there was full drinks service there too.

Breakfast was excellent. Initially we did not intend to take breakfast in as the advertised charge was €18 each (crazy!). But reception offered us a two for one deal which we took and got good value for. As another has reported, the tables are very close together making navigation difficult but that was a small price to pay for such a generous and high quality spread.

I must counter earlier negative comment on the reception staff. We found them friendly and helpful, and they spoke good English. I think it's a case of if you engage with them, they respond to you - same most places.

Certainly a hotel to recommend - and to point out that you can discount the rack rate if you look hard enough when booking!

Room Tip: Higher rooms looking in on the atrium are very quiet.

This is a good quality hotel right in front of the main cathedral and the port of Malaga. It has all the facilities one looks for in a hotel - the rooms are spacious, the bathroom well fitted, the breakfast sumptuous and the wifi fast and free. The pool was closed for repairs when we stayed there so we were unable to use it. From the balcony of our room, we could get a straight view of the cathedral and the other tourist sights like the Alcasaba fort and the Picasso museum are just a few minutes away by foot. Lots of charming restaurants in the neighbourhood to make sure you don't go hungry. It's very close to the train station and about 15 minutes from the airport. Highly recommended for a city trip.

We stayed for 2 nights whilst touring Spain. The hotel was bright, clean and quiet. Our room was large and the rooftop pool was a bonus. (not large but adequate)

The price was not too expensive but we did not eat there as there are so many places to eat in Malaga.

You MUST visit the sherry bar

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back.....no view but much more quiet

We were in Malaga to see the holy week processions. Hotel is well located in the historic center near where processions converge. Near the cathedral, picasso museum, roman theater etc. Modern, well-equipped room with nice view of the cathedral. We saw other rooms with charming french doors looking out on a walking street. The complimentary brandy was a nice touch.
The staff was really helpful in orienting me regarding the processions locations etc. Really nice breakfast.

This is a lovely hotel in a great situation. It has a lovely rooftop terrace which catches the sun and is great to sit in with a book. The hotel is spotlessly clean and housekeeping in our room was excellent. We had a lovely lunch in the central area of the hotel the day of the general strike. The guy who was covering this area was rushed off his feet and coped admirably regularly clearing tables and serving efficiently and pleasantly. The lunch was also very good.

The bad points, service was very inconsistent. Check in was not at all what I would have expected of a 4 star hotel. No conversation with us at all, asked for our Passport and gave us our key with no information being offered as to times of breakfast or any conversation with us at all, didn't give a great first impression. Breakfast whilst good quality was disappointing. Very little variety, slow to replenish items and very sparce on others, e.g. the only cereal on offer every day was Frosties, Special K or Coco Pops and a couple of mornings the only yoghurt on offer was plain or bannana. No bacon available the morning we were leaving and the scrambled egg was down to a spoonful. We had to wait on some of the pastries being replenished to have any kind of breakfast at all and by the time the scrambled egg was replenished we had finished breakfast as we were leaving to catch a flight. Check out was completely different from check in, the receptionist was pleasant and asked how we had enjoyed our stay and wished us a safe journey. It is noisy at night (though not the hotel's fault) with glass bins being emptied outside our room every morning at 3.00p.m. which seemed to take forever. The tables in the breakfast room are very close together and can be difficult to negotiate with cups of hot tea and coffee when busy. Dishes were not cleared during the course of breakfast apart from our final couple of days when again one of the waiters did himself proud by regularly clearing dishes from client's tables and greeting us very pleasantly when we arrived for breakfast, it really wouldn't take much for this to be a great hotel and it is a great pity that breakfast and inconsistency in service lets it down.

In saying all this I would use this hotel again as the location is terrific and the hotel is lovely. Some of staff are to be congratulated for the good job they do whilst others I think need some tuition in how to treat guests and they really do have to improve on breakfast. The other area which could be improved on is the supply of items in the room for making tea/coffee, again only two little milks left every day, so obviously you are not meant to have any more than one cup of coffee/tea per day. Tea bags were the same one of few varieties but only replaced the one you used. I hope the hotel listens to what is being said in these reviews as I'm not the only one who has consistently complained about service and breakfast. Do something about these and you have a great hotel.

We stayed a night in this hotel and had an excellent experience. The staff were very friendly. The room was large and the bed very comfortable. There were tea/coffee making facilities in the room which was a nice option. There was an excellent bar/restaurant and courtyard in the hotel. The hotel is in an excellent location close to the port and cathedral. I would highly recommend this hotel.

This hotel is located near all the major sites, very clean, with a friendly staff. The hotel also has two computers in the downstairs lobby, a nice rooftop pool, and a mcdonald around the corner if you need an american quick snack.
Parking is very expensive in the hotel, but I found a good place to park near the hotel. If you look at a google map, across from the hotel is a long green strip. It is called calle de los curas. You can park 24/7 along there for free(watch the small section closer to the hotel on this strip that is for carriage parking only during the day).
