“Very Good Hotel”

Staff very friendly, pool area nice and clean, nice to chill out and relax.
Hotel is mid way between Marbella and Peurto Banus - 7.75 euros to either place in a taxi or max 2 euros on the bus outside hotel - run every 15-30 mins & are quick!!
Buffet breakfast fine, English or Continental - sometimes a little bit cold.
Naranja Plaza (Orange Square) in Marbella Old Town is an excellent place to wine & dine - Plenty of Old style restaurants and not too expensive. Food and drink approx 20E to 60 Euros per person - dependant on what you want - try Fish Mixed Grill - get tons to eat and is delicious - meat mixed grill is also excellent.

Room Tip: Noisy rooms at the front of the hotel - main road facing - best rooms are pool side facing

Last year, we were delighted with our 2 weeks stay at NH-Alanda. Everything was "almost" perfect, especially the customer responsiveness and kindness of the team. We decided to go back this year and what a disappointment!
First bad surprise, the half board is imposed by the hotel management to be breakfast and diner (last year we could select either lunch at the pool or diner) and of course this decision is not indicated when you do your booking...
Then the diner is awful: meals are disgusting and instead of the lovely outdoor terrasse, the diner is served in a closed and depressing room.
Most of the waiters were agressive especially the guy managing the breakfast, who was mistreating the customers. The breakfast room was crowded and only a few people could eat at the terrasse (mainly locals!). Finally, the ladies cleaning the rooms did always forget to replace something: the paper tissue, the soap etc..
This year, we definitely did not feel welcome as tourists because we could even notice a significant difference in the behavior of the staff with the locals (spanish tourists).
If one does not care about the service and food quality, then one could be satisfied with the nice and confortable rooms (especially the ones facing the swimming pool), the beach proximity and the location (between Marbella and Puerto Banus). To reach Marbella city, the bus station (1-2 Eur) or there are taxis (9.3Eur), both in front of the hotel.

This now 4-star hotel still has remnants of its former 5-star past. In general the rooms are great, with good beds, plentiful space and nice toiletries. Some of the furniture in our room did require a little 'self repair' (a wheel had fallen of the armchair, the net curtains had come off the rail, and the bathroom floor would flood through poor design of the shower screen), but in general there wasn't too much to complain about. Maybe the old-style TV could have been replaced to one which didn't take up half the desk space, but that's being picky. So why ISN'T it 5-star? Well, it has some annoying 4/3/2-star habits of using a key-card to acquire pool towels (with a 33€ deposit should you lose them! REALLY, what is the point??), a ridiculously expensive mini-bar (3.50€ for a bottle of water, 3€ for a KitKat, RIPOFF), and worse of all... and management please please take note... breakfast is a disaster. The space set aside for breakfast is simply not conducive to a calm and relaxing waking-up experience. Too many people seated in too smaller space. And that's BEFORE you've tried to queue for the coffee machine and jumped over someone to get the milk. The hot food was not hot, at all, in fact it was stone cold; the ONE coffee machine (for a hotel catering for some 500 people at breakfast?!) broke constantly during our stay; the staff were rushed, noisy and disinterested in helping; the range of hot and cold food was disappointing; frequently we had to seek out additional cups and cutlery as none were available - sometimes taking them off of already set tables; often plates were dirty so we would not use them (quite rightly) which would create a stack of dirty dishes next to the ones which were meant to be clean; the food stations were squashed together which meant you were constantly bumping into other people or queueing for bread or hot water or something else. It really was awful. A serious management rethink here is necessary. That's why it only gets 3-stars (or an 'average' rating) from us. Otherwise, a 4-star. Dipping into 3-star territory occasionally.

We stayed at NH Alanda for six nights in june and was very well taken care of. We had a double room, which had everything we needed for our stay - a big bed, bath of good size and a mini bar to put cold drinks in - the room was perfectly cleaned every day. Breakfast was ok,the only thing we missed as scandinavians was a better selection of yoghurt/milk products and some kind of multi grain bread.
The beach club was closed (off season) when we were there but we wanted to go the beach anyway and I wished that someone would´ve informed us about this earlier - a note on the website might be a good idea.
Staff was friendly and helpful and we would definitely stay there again!

I stayed at this hotel for a long weekend, whilst attending a seminar at the Puente Romano directly opposite. The reason I stayed here was that this hotel was a lot cheaper that the Puente, but was just a short walk away.

The room was nice, modern and clean, and I had a great view of the old mosque behind the NH Alanda Marbella, which is lit up at night. During my stay, i did not encounter any issues at all, such as noise, etc.

I cannot comment on any meals, as I did not have any here. Instead, I had them at the Puente, as they were part of the seminar I was attending. However, I did have breakfast, and this was fine. The usual continental fare.

I would not recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to be close to the action in Marbella, especially if they do not have a car. However, as a cheaper alternative to the Puente Romano, I would recommend it, as it is virtually in the same location, albeit on the other side of a busy main road.

I found the rooms here very comfortable and nicely done. The reception staff were helpful and free parking was a nice bonus. On the other hand, no free wifi was a disadvantage. The breakfast buffet was fine. The evening buffet was not very good at all and I'd definitely skip that another time. I thought it was good value for money in the area, though I must admit I'd skip Marbella totally if I had to do my holiday again (Granada, Seville and Cordoba were much more interesting to me!).
