This home is amazing and the host, Jorge was helpful and kind, making our stay in Granada perfect! This home and Jorge made our visit to Granada the highlight of our tour of Spain. Jorge was waiting for us when we arrived. He helped us get our car parked and then helped us get acquainted with Granada. The view from the patio is fantastic and made us feel like the rich and famous as we had our morning coffee. The home has everything you could need and Jorge is an excellent host. I have stayed in quite a few apartment rentals but none as special as this. The air conditioning works well and we were very comfortable. Thank you Jorge for making our visit to your home so special.
We were absolutely delighted with this holiday home. The courtyard is large, with beautiful views and lovely lemon and orange trees providing shade. It was perfect for our 4 year old and our friend's 2 1/2 year old to run around in, while also being ideal for grown ups to sit out and sip wine in after the kid's bedtime. Inside, the rooms are generously proportioned and very comfortable.
Location-wise, we found it was a short and pleasant walk to most of Granada's main attractions, and there are shops, restaurants and many other facilities a short walk away.
Jorge was exceptionally helpful and accommodating, going out of his way to make us comfortable - he even volunteered to go and collect our friend's lost phone for them.
I highly recommend this place, especially for family groups. If we are ever lucky enough to be visiting Granada again, we would definitely stay here again.
I agree with all the earlier reviews, this is an unusual, historic, quirky, very Spanish, comfortable and homely apartment, in a partially listed building, right in the centre of old Granada.
What it does have, above everything else, is a very special host.
My friend and I arrived on Wednesday 6 June from Madrid, by train, for a 6 night stay. We had both had experienced a stomach upset a few days previously, but fortunately my friend had recovered. Mine had worsened into what was later diagnosed as acute gastro-enteritis and I was seriously dehydrated when I arrived.
Jorge suggested going to A&E immediately, but I hoped it would clear up in a couple of days, as most of these holiday bugs do.
Unfortunately, it didn't and by Sunday, I was still ill. When we mentioned this to Jorge, we thought he might suggest a doctor I could see the next day. However, he explained that in Spain you go straight to A&E, and insisted on dropping everything to take me there right then.
In fact, he had to take me to two hospitals as the first one was very busy. He acted as a translator where necessary, and also found me a pharmacy that was open on Sunday.
The regime the doctor prescribed helped a lot, and I am now home and recovering from what turned out to be a bacterial (campylobacter) infection.
Thank you, Jorge, for all your help and kindness. It made all the difference to our holiday.
We were very comfortable in this accommodation, which is well equipped and comfortable. It was good to have a bit of space in the garden as this is a part of a self standing house. There is a view over part of Granada up to the mountains.
The bus route is close by and will take you into town or to the Alhambra. Both venues are walkable if you are reasonably fit.
Jorge was extremely helpful and friendly and made sure we were oriented with the neighbourhood and also walked us into town. He even provide a light lunch for the ladies when the men were out hiking the sights.
Be sure to get very good directions because the approach is complicated by one way roads.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Carmen de la Lana.It is a traditional Spanish house located in an old part of the city, easily accessible but tucked away to give a safe, peaceful base from which to explore.
The house is clean, well equipped and the beds are comfortable. With the shutters and air conditioning, the house was cool and comfortable despite the unusually high temperatures this May. In fact, we didn't need to use the air conditioning much at all.
We spent our relaxation time in the spacious courtyard which has furniture thoughtfully placed so you can sit in the sun, shade or partial shade depending on your preference. The lemon tree, beautiful flowers in pots hanging on the walls and great views of Granada and Sierra Nevada all contributed to the enjoyment of relaxing there.
The owner, Jorge, is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. He showed us the area and where to find the supermarkets , the tapas bars and provided lots of advice on good restaurants and getting to places of interest.
We would thoroughly recommend this accomodation and plan to return there on our next trip to Granada .

Our GPS found this site without much difficulty and on arriving at the gate to the property, Jorge answered our ring and assisted us with parking the car. We didn't use it again until leaving Granada. The home is located in the old part of the city, a safe and quiet area with 1 market and a bakery within a block of the apartment and a larger . "Sol" market around the corner. A good cross section of ages seems to reside here. Our wonderful host Jorge introduced us to the joys of tapas in some of establishments where the locals go. He gave us a walking tour of the city noting that we came at a good time because the Celebration of Cruces and Flores took place. Beautiful flowers and crosses were displayed in the plazas; young girls and women of all ages had flowers in their hair some wearing the traditional long colorful dresses.
The apartment is on the ground level of the building and has everything as pictured. It is clean and Jorge provided coffee, fruit, milk, wine and tapas! He gave us the history of his home and this area of Andalucia. The patio had lovely views of the snow topped Sierra Nevada mountains and it was a pleasant spot to either have your coffee and pastry in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. It was quiet at night and we slept well. The city buses are a short walk and we took one to the Alhambra.
We bought our tickets 2 months ahead of time on line to see the Alhambra palace. There is a tourist office within walking distance of the apartment where you can exchange your printed receipt for an actual ticket saving you time at the entrance to the Alhambra complex. We stayed 4 nights but there is plenty to see and do there and it could have been longer.
Again we have to say that it would be hard to find a better host. When you visit an unknown area its not just the sites, shopping, restaurants or your accommodation but how you are treated by the people there that adds to the delight of travel. We will stay here again if our travels lead us to Granada.
There is very little we can add to the comments and reviews posted by preceding occupants of this accomodation. We would agree with all of them. The location was excellent and we could not have wished for a more pleasant and accomodating host in Jorge. The appartment in this wonderful and historic house had all the facilities advertised and the welcome hamper was a great bonus. The convenience of the bakery and small supermarket nearby was also very useful although Le Cortes Ingles department store and supermarket was only a 10 minute walk away if you required more extensive grocery shopping.
We had a wonderful stay in Granada and our thanks go to Jorge together with our very best wishes for his business for the future.
A tip I would add is, that if you intend to visit the Alhambra, do make sure you book tickets online well in advance of your visit to avoid disappointment. Numbers are strictly limited each day. We were extremely lucky to get 2 tickets 3 weeks beforehand for a tour but they were not cheap! Enjoy your visit!!
