“Cute rooms, great location, good value”
Reviewed 17 October 2011

Dona Lola has nicely decorated, newly renovated rooms at a reasonable rate. The location is just a 8-10 minute walk from all the major sites (note that you will be walking-- traffic is a disaster in Seville and we ended up walking everywhere when we would have normally taken a few buses).

As mentioned in other reviews, check-in is at a different hotel a block and a half away, but we found the staff there to be helpful-- we were able to leave our luggage for the day with no issues, and for the price and location of the hotel I found it a reasonable small inconvenience to check-in somewhere else. We also didn't have issues with noise as some reviewers mentioned, and using your room key to start the electricity in the room is of course standard across Europe. Breakfast is indeed a joke (white bread, pre-packaged cakes), so just use it to get your coffee fix!

Well a lot of my rating is because of what I paid for the room..We were transferred here as our other hotel overbooked on the pretext that we were being upgraded.. At 0430 in morning I did not have energy to argue and decided to take the room..

The room was a shack on top of a hostel building,,, it has glass walls all round,, a small bathroom... just outside the shack were big pipelines with insulation maybe of heating system withing the building...

there was no wifi...room wasnt cleaned,,

a complete dump..shouldnt charge more than 20-25 euros..in my days as a backpacker most of the hotels I have stayed on are much better than this in the 20-30 euro range,,,

an absolute dump for the price they charged

It's not made clear that check-in occurs at a hotel a few blocks away, so I didn't appreciate having to wander the streets of Seville late at night to find this other hotel in order to check in. Despite the map provided on the door, I still needed to ask for directions. The lack of reception was a problem upon leaving as well, as I had no way to call for a taxi (I ended up walkings several blocks to the El Cortes department store to find a taxi stand) and I wasn't able to leave my luggage for the few hours' wait I had until my train left.

Breakfast was a joke: white bread and weak coffee out of a machine. I never saw or heard any other guests while I was there, which was very odd.

However, the room was beautiful, with new decor and furnishings. Very quiet.

You have to do the checkin/checkout at the 3* parent hotel at about 80m from the entrance of this one as there is no permanent reception here. There is no restaurant in the hotel but with a 10min walk you can find plenty of restaurants/tapas bars.

As for the positive things:
- The location is great as it's very central and you can go to every part of the city center walking (attractions, bars, museums, ...)
- The rooms have been refurbished recently, the decoration is modern with color themed rooms. The single room was small but new with a good bed (good mattress), a large shower and sink as well as a TV and air conditioning (a must-have in Seville) You can access your room with an elevator and there is free wifi.
- The people handling the checkin/checkout spoke good English.
- A 'The Tourist' magazine was conveniently available in the room.
- The breakfast was a self-service active from 7.30am to 11am and was handy.
- The room was cleaned every day and sheets and towels changed each day.
- You can access your room with your card 24/7 and don't need to face a receptionist.

As for the less positive things in my experience:
- There was no window on the street in the room I was in but only on the inside patio so you couldn't really tell if it was still night or day.
- There was no information available in the room itself for simple things: how to use the phone, how much did it cost, how to call the reception (the one at the parent hotel as there is none in this hotel), ...
- The air conditioning worked but seemed to have difficulties to maintain a constant temperature: on several occasions, I woke up freezing in the room and had to stop it (even though it was set at 25-28C)
- You have to insert your access card in a slot and leave it there to have some current: this means you can't leave something charging when you're off your room. I'm not sure of the rationale as the AC could be left on (and an AC eats way more electric power than a light or a TV...)
- The phonic isolation of the room I was in (from the sounds coming from the patio) was not that great. As there was no receptionist and nothing to enforce the schedule rules for breakfast, some "smart" customers got the idea to run the very noisy coffee machines and have their breakfast in the night (4.30am...) or talk loudly in the patio or slam the entrance door when they got in... [glad I had some ear plugs available]

Overall, I was satisfied with my stay (location, location, location as they say :-) but it could have been better.

A very nice hotel with a 'boutique' feel. Everything was modern, new and, very importantly, clean! You need to check in at its sister hotel round the corner but it only takes a minute to get there so isn't particularly inconvenient. We were lucky to get a room with a huge window (the orange room) which gave us a privileged view of the Semana Santa procession further down the street. The only negative is that the frosted glass bathroom door doesn't provide as much privacy as I would have liked. May not be ideal for new couples ;)

This hotel was a different experience since there was no reception and it was more or less a self check in. It is unusual that they ask you to go to their 3 * hotel nearby for the room key etc but once you are in its fine. The rooms are clean and well maintained and there is a very basic breakfast available which consists of bread, butter, cake, juice and coffee.Overall its good value for money and I think quite ideal for single travellers. The hotel is also located 10 minutes from the cathedral(worth a see) Alcázar and Archivo de Indies. Anyway I would recommed for a decent no frills stay.

I had a good stay in this hotel which is basically new. The room was small but modern and equipped with all facilities including a/c. The hotel as already stated does not have a reception - check in has to be done in another hotel which is nearby. Breakfast is self service and is made only of a coffee machine, juice and some bread/toast. Room was cleaned and new towels provided everyday. The location is in the centre so you can walk to all major attractions but the city centre is quite small anyway.
