Owner description: Construction of this palace began in 1492. Today, part of the palace is a museum and is open to the public. There is a separate wing where the present Duchess of Medinaceli lives with her descendants and family. The palace has many gardens, patios, fountains, and salons. The patios contain many Roman statues. Everywhere on the first floor one will find Roman mosaic floors. The walls are covered with beautiful ceramic tile in many different Mudejar styles.

I don't think so. Not well maintained, not much to see--save your time and money. Areas are curtained-off so pictures are awful with ribbons showing on all of them. The gardens are off limits. Not a positive experience--go to the Real Alcazar, or to the Duenas, much better experience.

The ground floor rooms built around a courtyard are lovely with local style tiles on the walls and the gardens are beautiful. A family residence "palace" which offers a guided tour of the furnished upper floor rooms at an additional charge. This is a good opportunity to see the life-style and possessions of a historic family residence and well worth visiting. Fairly early in the morning may be a good time to visit as we saw large groups queueing at other times.

When visiting you can either have access to just the ground floor and gardens or purchase a "complete" ticket which is for a guided tour of the appartments on the first floor as well. To see the palace at it's finest, this is worth doing.

There's a large staircase to go up to the first floor (no lift) at your designated tour time and you are met by the guide who will take you from room to room explaining more about the interior and giving a history of it's use.

If you do just have a ticket for the ground floor, make sure you also see the lovely gardens as well.
