It's unusual for me to do a review at just the 'average' level, we've been lucky...so here's the deal, I made reservations at this place for two nights, we were flying into Madrid, fast training down to Seville from Madrid, spending two nights getting on Spanish time before starting a Camino North towards Salamanca. Well best laid plans...I got to Atlanta in time but my Lovely didn't, so we missed the flight into Madrid. I immediately emailed this place explaining the situation; bad weather...asking them if we could simply move the two night reservation from Wed/Thurs to Thurs/Fri. They said Fine, but it would coast 150Euro. What was happening was they were simply charging us for another night. Now don't get me wrong, I understand a place needs to make money, but they also told us that they weren't sold out the night we were 'supposed' to get there, so what was the issue ???
So lets say we made it on time. The Hostal is in a good location; the decoration is pretty sparse. Old Photographs hung high on the wall, inexpensive plated brass, less expensive side tables. Lets just say minimal...The younger ladies at the Front Desk were quite nice, my guess is they were simply worker bee's, with no ability to cut any slack. The real cresendo here is that on our first night in Spain we tried to get some rest so we could walk the next day only to find out a Tango Show was going on right below us. It was like we were caught in a Disco Ball of loud bass... SO, the price can be right; the location is good, but I'm thinking for perhaps a bit more you'd be a LOT more. You make the call, Salida1048

Room Tip: Go with one NOT above the Tango Facility...

Good value for Seville and central location.
Breakfast not bad but croissants stale.
Found reception offhand and unhelpful.
This hotel is definitely quirky and has the feel of a hostal.
Is fine for a few days.

Booked this hotel as stayed there before and very thing about it was perfect, omg what a let down this time, Unfortunately we were going with friends who were unable to come, we phoned the hotel to inform them a few days before and were told on arrival there would be some kind of compensation.
Compensation there was, an upgraded room, what a joke , the room we have last time was a lot nice, the bathroom in this one is extremely dangerous (105) the water runs out of the shower across the bathroom floor to the sink, making the floor very slippery.
This room is also very noisy as it is above the main door and i believe above the cellar So as i said at the beginning we were very very disappointed this time,
The good thing about the hotel is the breakfast and the location is excellent

Room Tip: Didnot have rooms 105 or 106 or you will get no sleep

Clean, basic room. Very small bath but adequate. Breakfast was a buffet with several choices. Room was dark and quiet so we slept well. Location was hard to find at first but was excellent for touring the town. Easy walk to everywhere in the old city.

This hotel is in a converted convent. It is close to everything and an easy walk to most sites. The breakfast was ok and coffee was excellent. Room was clean, furnished with older furniture, had a large closet with drawers and a safe, a passably comfortable bed with hard pillows and a TV which we did not watch. Bathroom was well supplied w toiletries, hair dryer and towels. Staff were welcoming, friendly and pleasant. There are three floors of rooms above street level w an elevator.
We did experience some issues. We switched rooms after the first night as our first room was extremely hot although we had set the temperature at 15 degrees Celsius. We called the front desk. They suggested we leave the room window open. This was unreasonable as there was no window to the outside as the only one opened out to the hallway. The original convent room windows opened out to a courtyard which has since been covered with a roof. We asked to switch rooms. The new room was cooler. The lighting in the room was poor. A weak overhead light with 2 missing light bulbs and 2 very low wattage side lamps. These two lamps were wired to one plug, one with what looked to be speaker wire. Not safe! There was no natural light in the room as the window again opened out to the hallway. The Wifi was not reliable. The plumbing was very noisy. Although you do not hear street noise, there is noise from the hallways and adjacent rooms as the surfaces are all tiled and the walls are not insulated to prevent sound. Our bathroom had a bit of a sewer type odour at first which disappeared once we had a shower. The bathtub had several large chipped areas that were covered with regular wall paint in an attempt at repairs. When arriving back to our room at night (10 p.m.) the hallways were completely dark and we had to use the flashlight on our phones to find the hallway light switches.
Barely a 3 star hotel and definitely not a 4 star hotel. Location is great and the hotel is cute and quirky with interesting decorations. Needs some serious electrical, plumbing, and router and modem connectivity upgrades to bring up to the 4 star hotel it claims to be.

First it is loud, drain in shower didn't work, flooded into bathroom, nor did the air conditioning, blew hot actually. Had to open door and window to get any resemblance of fresh air.
Staff barely spoke English so when you complain about an inappropriate action of a staff member , they look at you blindly.
Hard to find but close to beautiful cathedral
Manager could not care less what happened in this hotel. Lack of response to serious issues.
The worst customer service I have ever had and the strangest most inappropriate behaviour of a staff member I have ever encountered, to say it kindly.

Our feelings towards Hotel Convento La Gloria are mixed:

To start with the best, you couldn´t get a better location if you want to explore the old town. Everything is within easy walking distans. And the building in itself - an old convent converted to hotel - is quite charming.

The first room we got was a disaster and very far from what we thought we had booked. There was no window, no safe, no internet and a bed that surely had seen better days. After complaining with Booking.com, where we hade booked the room, we were the following day upgraded (without cost) to a much better room. The staff was helpful in this process.

Internet is a problem in this place. There is internet in the hotel, but in both rooms we had the signal was so weak that surfing was lika a lottery, sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn´t.

Breakfast was rather poor, especially the collection of bread was a sad sight. If breakfast isn´t included in your bookng you would easily find better alternatives for less money out in the city.
