“Loved my time at Samay”
Reviewed 17 April 2012

Our group consisted of 3 people and we stayed in a 4 person room with ensuite. The room and bathroom was clean and bright. The staff were always helpful and they were happy to check our bags for us on the last day because we had a later flight. They had wifi and a few communal computers you could use. We did the free walking tour and the tapas tour and loved both of them. We were still a little hungry after the tapas tour but it was mostly about trying new things and meeting new people. Everyone there was so nice and fun. The tapas tour ended at this little bar that had free flamenco shows which were better than the shows we shelled out 40 euros for in madrid! We walked everywhere and it was nice that its was close to the cathedral and alcazar. The gardens of the alcazar are amazing and definately worth seeing. The free walking tour was also really good and highly recommended. There is a convenient store close by where we bought bottled water and drinks. There is a roof top terrace but it was too hot to sit up there for us.

Room Tip: I recommend private rooms with ensuites.

First of all, the location. There is bus connection to the long-distance bus station, and it takes less than 10min walk to the cathedral. There is sandwich shop providing good snack food, and supermarket is very close by. So it is quite convenient.

Staff are very helpful, and resourceful. I tried the flamenco show recommended by the hostel staff. And it turned out to be surprisingly good! Didn't try the tapas bar crawl though.

Room is reasonably clean and bright. Lockers are provided, which is nice too. There is a roof terrace with music, which is one of my favorite places in the late night with a glass of wine.

I think the only drawback was that during my stay there were some people next door smoking in their room with loud music and loud "chatting". This is totally not respecting other people. But of course it has nothing to do with the high quality of the hostel itself.

Ah, and the bunker is really low, so I had difficulty to even sit properly on my bed - I am a shortie!

In conclusion, I would like to stay here again if I go to Seville again.

The first night I was allocated a room in the apartment building next door to the main building of the hostel. It was inconvenient that the kitchen, common area and wifi are in the main building, but it wasn’t a huge issue. Unfortunately one of the roomies was a bit disrespectful with personal hygiene and noise. I asked the staff if it was possible to move into another room the next night and they were very helpful. I ended up moving to the main building, which was much better, definitely recommended. It seems to be for 4 or 6 bed rooms with private bathrooms. They offer quiet a few different tours. I did the free morning walk tour which was worthwhile to know a little of the history of the city. There is a good kitchen to make breakfast or they will provide a basic breakfast for 2.50. Linen is nice and clean.

Very good location, but there is no LIFT!!!!
No wifi in the room, and we hv to go down to the main building and use wi-fi in the lobby area.

I love the kitchen area.

private room, and quite at nite.

Free walking tours. We did enjoy the tours, so much info and fun!

Me and my friend stayed in a private room, with its own bathroom. The rooms were lovely and clean. We were on the bottom floor and it was a little noisy as our room was right near the kitchen and common area, but it didnt really bother us. Erica was amazing, she gave us some great tips on where to eat, what flamenco show to see etc. For 2 euro you can get a light breakfast - toast, muffins, cereal and coffee/tea. We also were able to get our laundry done for 8 euros (up to 8 kg), which is very handy. The hostel is on the edge of the old district. It is only about a 15 min walk from one side to the other though so the location was pretty good. The streets can be very confusing though, so make sure you have a map! I would definitely recommend this place.

All of the staff were some of the most helpful and energetic we've encountered in our travels EXCEPT for one member of staff who worked the swing shift --he was extremely unhelpful, cold, & incompetent. However, the night shift guy was so nice and recommended the BEST flamenco spot in town, which was the highlight of our time in Sevilla. Private room was among the nicest and brightest rooms we have ever stayed in! Unfortunately, the internet was constantly broken; it would work for 5 mins and then not work for 20. Easily this was the most frustrating internet experience while traveling.

Room Tip: The double ensuite is fantastic if your budget prioritizes privacy. Modern white and orange decor. V...
