Stayed here for a leisure break in May. The hotel is just 1km from the centre, next door to a metro stop. Getting to/from town is easy, and getting to the airport via taxi is very simple. We used both taxi and airport bus, both worked out great - the airport bus stops next to a metro station, so you then ride 3 stops to the hotel.
The hotel is very similar to a Marriott Courtyard-type experience. It's a business hotel, with clean rooms, hard flooring, tea/coffee maker, shower room. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was amazing. Cleaning was excellent, and the room was restocked daily. The room has a wardrobe (open wardrobe), but no drawer storage, so storage wasn't great, but this is typical for a business hotel. You need to walk quietly on the floor, because it creates a lot of noise, and I could hear people walking around the rooms above us....you get used to it, but bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
The staff were very friendly, and efficient, they really did their best for us. The lobby area has a nice bar, with good wines (our barman was very generous and poured large glasses) and a selection of snacks and sandwiches. We didn't bother buying the breakfast, because the snack/light bites available in the lobby bar are just fine.
There was one surprise with the hotel - the leisure facilities. We booked this hotel because its advertising features the outdoor pool, and gym. Be aware that these are not part of the hotel, and owned by a separate firm. We were informed at reception that we would have to pay 8€ each to use the gym, I think there is a 20€ charge to use the spa/indoor pool. I had planned to have a relaxed city break, with some pool time, mixed in with sightseeing, but had to give up on it. It's not clearly called out on booking sites either, so be aware (I found the hotel on Expedia by searching for hotels with pools and gym). Had I known this I would have chosen a different hotel, located in the city centre. So, maybe make it more clear on the advertising, this is why I've given it a 3/5 instead of a solid 4.
All things considered, it's a good hotel, one I would consider for work though, rather than leisure. If you are visiting Bilbao, as long as you are ok walking around, then it's fine for visiting the city centre.
