Silken Indautxu Hotel

Last weekend, a friend and I spend 3 days in Bilbao and I choose to reserve a room in the Silken Indautxu (In- dao- tshu). The lobby and bar are beautiful and the dining room is elegant. The room we shared was a bit small for two people, by American standards, but beautiful and clean. I absolutely no complaints about this hotel or it's staff and have determined that this will be MY hotel when I return to Bilbao. I have only one story about the staff going above and beyond the call of duty, but I hope other readers will understand that we were very happy with the staff and our treatment without the need of any special acts. We did have to request, however that they allow us to leave our luggage with them while we spent our last day in Bilbao enjoying its cultural attractions since our train would be departing in the evening the morning we checked out of the hotel. They happily obliged, something they did not have to do, and for which we were thankful. Even if they had not agreed to take care our luggage, my feelings about them would remain the same.

Had a 3 night midweek stay during the recent European cold snap and with zero degree temps outside the room was warm and welcoming. Contacted the hotel prior to our arrival to ask for a bottle of bubbly to be waiting in our room as a birthday surprise for my wife, and, after the quickest check in ever, had a bottle of Cava in an ice bucket waiting for us.Not sure if we got an upgrade as well because we had one of the more modern rooms with flat screen television and light wood furniture. This was at a great price of 50 euros a night booked through Olotels.com via Trivago.Did'nt eat in the hotel but it did have some good offers on meals in both the cafe and restaurant. The staff we met were all professional and polite.Overall most impressed with our stay.
Bilbao itself is a very walkable city with some great places to eat.

Stayed for 2 nights after booking via Late Rooms. The reception spoke reasonable english, although as we spoke Spanish it wasnt necessary. At first they put us in a room with a broken air conditioner panel and the heat was really bad so we asked to move and they sorted this straight away to a room which was fine, and apologised for the inconvenience. Both the rooms we had were a good size, large bathrooms, nice hallways, and flat screen TVs. There was a good 'essentials' box, nice towels, and very comfy beds. No noise.
The location is pretty good as Bilbao is only small anyway. Walking distance to just about everywhere. It's not far from a nice restaurant called Florinda.

Main problem was that the hotel was hideously over-heated and that meant the aircon had to be on all the time, even in late October. Rooms basic - no kettle for instance, but free (basic) internet, but they don't advertise that for some reason.

Spent 3 nights here in downtown Bilbao for EUR 75 weekend night with breakfast included. I really liked breakfast buffet with lot of meat in it. Room was modern and quite spacious with possibility to open window. Here even is free wi-fi internet (with some strange limitations). Not so much to do in Bilbao, but this hotel was good point from which to explore city (particularly Guggenheim center and Art museum). You have to get accustomed to city specific eating tradition of pintxos and drinking by bar. Instead of that you can opt for hotel's restaurant.
