this is where we take friends, family, other people's family, and even just ourselves when we want to be spoiled. the service is always excellent, the wine list has good choices, the rices on the salty side (but we like them that way), and the food is classic spanish, without being borning.
favourite dishes are: roasted shoulder of goat or lamb, the "lomo con col" (pork loin stuffed with spices and savoury filling & covered with cabbage leaves) is usually excellent, and the starters are simple, but well done: grilled wild mushrooms, artichokes, and snails in a very good broth. they have gigantic angus burgers, which we haven't tried yet, perhaps after the xmas diet...but they look fabulous!!
we love the service here. it's professional, polite, attentive without being overbearing, and they remember you after only one visit! they smile but are serious about their jobs. they are happy to recommend & assist you with the menu, and they speak very good english, if you need.
the owner comes to make sure you are happy, which we like!
the decor is soothing, off whites with white table cloths, proper chairs and prints of picasso on the walls. a mix of modern with warm touches that make it chic, but not over the top. after all, we are here to eat, not to be seen!
this is a favourite with locals, old and young alike, which usually means it's good! it's a very good idea to book in advance, especially on weekends.
they also do takeaway paellas & other dishes, made to order so you can take them home! we haven't tried that yet, but what a great way to feed a crowd!
we give this a 9/10, but only because sometimes they don't have our favourite things on the menu!
