A haven of beautiful tranquility. The food is excellent and people are very serviable.

The hotel is situated at end of a road and the sea is at some meters.Absolute silence

No noise only nature

A real pleasure

The finest of three hotels we stayed in on El Hierro, this Parador does a lot to maintain the collection’s strong reputation. Maybe not as ‘grand’ as some we have stayed in, but perhaps better for its charm and superb location.

It is right on the seashore, so close that breakers splash the path to the pool area. We stayed in room 410, on the upper storey, at the far end, where we had windows on two sides giving fantastic views of the Las Playas beaches, and the sound of ocean waves nearby. The location and orientation mean that whilst the rooms get direct morning sun, this leaves the balconies quite early. However, the pool area enjoys sun right until late afternoon. A bit of a shame the pool is not heated, so is only for the hardy in winter (and it’s a bit of a trek through the hotel and round a path in front to get to - it wasn’t clear why access directly from the hotel could not be arranged).

Room tip: Choose 410 for the dual aspect and closeness to the sea.

The island, and the Parador itself, was a brilliant experience, wish we had discovered it before now. We took a side trip from Tenerife and the contrast was heavenly. The Parador was beautifully equipped, on the beach with a great balcony. Staff to a person were helpful and friendly. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

The Parador is in a fabulous location with breathtaking views. It is not close to anything so you are confined to the hotel somewhat in the evenings as there are no restaurants or bars close by. Plus the roads are unlit and it would probably involve a journey into the mountains to go to the centre of Valverde. The hotel is of an attractive Canarian architecture however, the rooms in the hotel are very tired and seriously need updating. The beds were comfortable and the bed linen was good quality. The shower in the bath is an accident waiting to happen there is no mat to use in the base of the bath.

The drinks are extortionately expensive in the bar and the restaurant food is average, small portions without much selection. My main course came with salad - which consisted of one lettuce leaf, half a tomato and two onion rings. Hardly a salad! Also dining in the hotel is very expensive for what is on offer. The breakfast is average and the hot food is lukewarm at best. The coffee is so strong it feels like it’s been brewing since 7am The “spa” is equally as tired.

It’s a very pretty island but I would not stay at this hotel again if I was to come. I’ve stayed in many 3 star hotels in Spain and the Islands and they have all been better quality and value for money than this. If the location and views are important to you. You won’t be disappointed. Valverde is by far the best location for access to the rest of the island, port and airport.

Its not the best hotel ive been to, but you can’t really expect the most luxurious accommodation when it comes to an isolated island like El Hierro. Didnt have any problems so i would definitely go back. Staff not bad, food in the restaurant was actually quite good.
