Lots of plus points:
+ Central - 5mins from cathedral, Museum of Evolution, river, and close to lots of shops
+ Characterful - some 1908 features still in evidence
+ Very helpful reception - excellent English
+ Large modern well-maintained rooms
+ Large bathroom with bidet and bath
+ Elevator
+ WiFi
+ Excellent Breakfast = €7
+ Inexpensive, €55/night approx
However, there are a few downsides, that it's very hard to see how the hotel could solve:
- Noisy walls and wooden floors
- Street noise until late (but good double-glazing)
- No airconditioning
- Car access to hotel is difficult, and no parking
However, we could easily live with these shortcomings, with all the other things going for it.

Room Tip: Higher floors will be quieter - especially on Saturday nights!

The hotel is at a good location with a parking garage close to the hotel. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are not so quiet and the wooden floors are noisy. WiFi connection in the rooms is bad but good in the reception hall. The breakfast buffet is not rich. Overall a good price-quality ratio.

The double room next to the pedestrian street was narrow. Overall the mattresses were old and uncomfortable.

Breakfast was cheap:
- industrial cheese & ham
- no / very little fruit
- cheap bread
- no selection of cereals

The WiFi was very slow and constantly disconnected

However it has a very good location.

I am staying here ATM. Friendly staff. clean room. quaint surroundings and right in the heart of the city. Very satisfied. Hotel dates back to 1908 with one family owning from beginning. I came on a bike and they have storage room free to keep it.

Great value and location. Right in the centre, a few minutes walk of all the must see attractions. The walk up to the castle is a little more strenuous. Lots of bars and restaurants nearby.
The hotel is clean, the staff excellent, the double room and en suite was comfortable, a little small, our room overlooked a square. Perfect for our needs. Not for you if you want luxury, you get what you pay for. We loved it.
