Owner description: Miraflores was originally a hunting lodge built by King Enrique III at the beginning of the 15th century and then converted into a monastery by the Carthusian monks, who continue there today. The remarkable church is considered one of the principal monuments of the city of Burgos and contains a royal mausoleum that is the final resting place of King Juan II and his wife Queen Isabel, parents of Queen Isabel "La Catolica". Visitors can look forward to an extraordinary experience of silence, peace and beauty.

This was our favourite place to visit in Burgos, the visit is limited to the church and a small museum but the atmosphere is very special. The staff is welcoming and there is plenty of interpretive information in English. Entry is free but donations are welcomed.

The easy walk from Burgos along the river is delightful and adds to the overall experience. The path to the monastery is not signposted but is easy to follow.

This is the most wonderful
Monastery. I think it is an absolutely must see stop around Burgos. I shall go back for another visit, as I could not take all of it in at one go. À merveille du monde.

Well worth a visit. This Carthusian monastery is home to 20 monks who tend the place with loving care. Wonderful church and well worth spending an hour inside. Free entry but donations accepted.
