“History, hot chocolate and tapas!”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

The shops, cafes and the streets have all been reborn! This was our 2nd visit after 20 years. The area used to be dirty and scary now it is full of chic shops and botique hotels and a lot of charm. It breathes history and culture.

“The essence of Europe”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

An American, I went on a long journey through Europe, with Barcelona as my unexpected first stop. I loved the city, and walking through the gothic quarter was really just intoxicating; that feeling of being somewhere so exotic and different than where you are from. There were many tourists in the area, so it's not lonely and you don't feel too out of place, also there is a nice market, and plenty of great architecture. The old cathedral was being repaired and partly hidden by scaffolding, but its beauty still seeped through. This place is simply magical!

“So cosy to have diner”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Plenty of cosy restaurants. One of my favorite neighbourhoods in Barcelona because of the small streets and authentic atmosphere.

“Great nightlife”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Very cool pedestrian area in Barcelona. Tons of shops and restaurants to check out. Several nice cathedrals and pieces of the old roman wall to check out. Be sure to come by in the evening. The main Cathedral is free to enter then.

“Barcelona backstreets”
Reviewed 5 April 2012

Gothic quarter is like the rest of Barcelona - cool, old, twisting streets and fabulous shops. Make sure you hit the attractions before siesta time.
